When I press the brake pedal nothing happens for the first 2 inches of travel. After that the car stops fine. It has a new brake pads and rotors, so I know that’s not the issue. It does have hydro-boost. The brake lines have never been open so I can’t imagine that I would have air in the system. Brake lines all look fine and they’re not leaking.

I tried the procedure in the attached picture of pumping the brakes 5 to 6 times, and then pressing down on the brake pedal and starting the engine. When I start the engine the brake pedal doesn’t fall slightly, but it kicks back on my foot.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I’d start with bleeding the brakes and maybe new brake fluid

Check fluid level in the master cyclinder. You probably just need to bleed the brake system. Sounds like air in the lines or master cylinder. Wouldn't hurt to bleed the hydroboost system too since it's a completely separate system.

I recommend pressure bleeding the master with the motive brake bleeder. Super ez 1 man job.. hydroboost can be drained off the return line and just keep the power steering level from getting too low.

My brake pedal was a little sloppy until I bled mine, but I retrofitted my truck with hydroboost..same principle.
