Tow haul mode on up hill with 5k trailer temps keep going up with ac on. Temp went to 235 then I pulled over and went down right to 210. Did that twice but always went down . Most of the trip was uphill for 275 miles .
You can keep the factory lines just need new fittings for the 40k.
I pull an enclosed 7x16 dual axle trailer with 2 race bikes and all the tools and camping gear for 3 days. On the way up state to NY its mostly a hill climb every 20 miles or so. I tow in manual mode and use 3rd and 4rth gear...
40k trucool with factory lines.
Someone also mentioned summer months the coolant temp rises, mine seems to cycle and levels back out at 210 on the cluster after a long hill pull.
I use my 09 Yukon denali 6.2 tow a 7.5x16 dual axle extra height enclosed trailer loaded with tools bikes and 30 gallons of fuel, trailer weighs 5,000 loaded for the weekend.
I have 3.08 gears and cruise up hill in 4th at 3k rpm if not too steep and around 3700 if headed up state NY...
Interested in this as well.
I am going to building an LSA kit and I should do a cam while I have everything apart. I tow regularly 5k enclosed trailer with two race bikes, tools and camping gear.
I plan on doing 3:73 or 4:10 diff ratios, I dont feel like dealing with any downtime.
Do the Yukon and Tahoe's that are 4wd have the same front diff as the AWD Deanali's fron 2007 to 2014? I dont care about the guts as I also want to do the Yukon Lockers and gear sets.
When I took mine for a test drive salesman asked how many children I had. When I said 0 he look confused. I camp a lot and tow a trailer for race bikes why do you care?
Speed engineering is where it's at , I tow and spend a lot of time in the 3200 to 4000 rpm range for hundred of miles and no issues with mine at all and fitment was spot on .
Make sure you get some ceramic plug coils though the stocks will rub and burn.
Bought mine to tow with to the track, daily a Ford focus. But not after the power steering pump rusted and leaked once I am done with that I plan on installing a BTR cam and diving it some more.
Built and painted shelves in the race trailer then towed it to WV only to have the power steering line fail and leak all of the fluid out down at the track. Drove it back home and the pump was not happy at all.
I really need to get 4:10 gears and a mitso radiator installed to keep the coolant...
Dont guess at drilling it straight get an auto center punch and do that a few times dead center and when you step drill it you will be able to pick the treads out.
Interesting about e85, I thought about it before last weekend but the area of NY I was going to is remote and it was even hard to find 93oct up there.
I used manual mode last time instead of tow haul due to it up and down shifting more often than I liked.
Super steed grades put a really big load on the engine towing in 4th, towed just fine at 4k the entire trip . No issues at all and trans temp never went above 175 in 95 degree temps.
So after this weekend I can shed some light on rpm and towing and what to expect depending on what trailer you have.
2009 Yukon Denali with 3.08 gears.
Enclosed 7x16 extra 12 inches of height dual axle trailer weighing 5k
