Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

I was thinking about plasti-dipping them during the winter for that reason, but it does kinda sound like a hassle. And the more I think about it, the more I remember how hard it can be to keep chrome looking it's best. So far it looks like a lot of votes to the grey TBSS rims. I'm going to do...

Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

Chrome or brushed/polished aluminum on an Escalade makes sense, since chrome has been a calling card of luxury since the 50's (and probably before, but not quite like the 50's). I love the Whipple, but I think this build is going to be a stroker/nitrous combo. Simply because I don't see them...

Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

Let me try asking it like this, to see if 24's are even plausible... The kit comes with a rear spring that allows a 6" drop. Since I'm running a Suburban instead of a Tahoe I'm expecting it'll be closer to 6.5". Up front I'll likely get Belltech spindles on top of the 3" DJM arms for a total...

Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

I was making $15k a month at one point in contract aviation (I'm an aircrewman) and walked away from everything to train dogs. I'm sure I'll get back to that point one day, but it won't be soon. Until then, I'm going to play with my truck. Suspension/brakes come first, then interior (going to...

Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

I know what you mean, which is why I don't ride motorcycles anymore. The stress of not being taken out by a car made street riding unpleasurable, and track riding is a crazy expensive hobby (especially when you lay one down). I'm 31 and am starting to appreciate the nicer things in life.... but...

Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

Are the grey TBSS wheels painted or powder coated? I'm really starting to like their understated look. I think black wheels on a blacked out truck may be a little too much black. Chrome may be a little bit too loud, and may be a little bit overpowering. Or I'm just overthinking it. Like I...

Grey is the wildcard. It gives a nice contrast to the black without being too loud. Those pictures just made my decision even harder!

Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

I'm really stuck when it comes to the TBSS rims. All three colors look pretty good on black. Of course, I could always get chrome and then dip the wheels black for the winter and have the best of both worlds.

    Need some paint opinions guys.

Grab some dip and start spraying. It isn't permanent and it'll let your eyes see what's in your head.

That's a good point. The 24's seem to really fit the NBS well, but they border that line of looking purposeful and looking ghetto. Especially if the drop isn't deep enough. I'm leaning towards 22's, but just have to decide what looks good on a truck that's so long.

Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

I've had 22's in the past but never 24's. I'm going to be building a "performance" truck (as much as I can with a huge heavy suburban) so I don't want wheels that will hinder more than help. Will the 24's hurt my performance in any reasonable amount over the 22's?

Buying the NorCalSS Ultimate handling package. Help me with wheels!

Hey everyone. Long time lurker, few time poster. I have a 2002 Suburban that's getting a complete makeover in the fall. I have about $5,600 set aside for suspension, wheels, tires, and hopefully a little bit of change left for a few other goodies (tint, speakers, etc...). So I'm putting...

Need advice - is a 2002 Yukon with 150k+ miles worth it ?

I bought a 2002 Suburban with around 150k for $6,000. I have about 172k now and have only replaced the air conditioner and a wheel bearing/hub, but I know there's a few repairs I'll need to make sooner than later. The factory speakers are tired, but that's a function of age rather than...

How fragile is the 1500 IFS, really?

I have a 2002 Suburban that I want to lift 6" to do some Overland adventuring/camping with. However, I keep reading articles stating that the 8.25 IFS system is complete garbage and will leave me stranded if the wind blows too hard. How fragile is the 8.25 system, really? Can I run 35" tires...

    Long travel suspension. .

I'd also like to know the answer to this. I spend a lot more time in the Arizona desert than I do in the mud, and a long travel system sounds like it would be a blast on my Suburban.

    Suburban owner here...

I have to admit, it really is a cool profession to get into. I can't complain too much about work when my job is to hang out with dogs all day.

    Suburban owner here...

Hi Everyone, First, I want to say that I have been a long time lurker on your forum, and I figured it's about time to get registered so I can participate in the games. I'm a previous owner of a 2005 Yukon Denali, and now I'm the proud owner of a 2002 Chevy Suburban LT 4x4. I'm a Master dog...
