It depends on the offset on your wheels. I know 285/75r16s would fit on that year with factory tires with a slight torsion bar crank. 285/75r16s and 285/70r17s are pretty close in size.
BTW, on these NBS AWD suvs with these particular 20"s, 275/55r20s are as big as you can go. I really wanted to go with 305/50s, but there is NO WAY they would fit at factory height.
