What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Hi people!!! Been some time since last post here! Had to replace broken parking brake cable that snapped while testing just before I was going for MA state RMV annual inspection... Not that interesting of a pic, so I'll skip the photo of new cable. Good news... 20 years and over 222,000...

    Stubborn Uppper Control Arms

Long time no post! New job with agency take home vehicle and very crazy summer with work, so nit much time either the Tahoe and a few short trips cross-town. Time for annual safety inspection... fail. Upper ball joint was bad. Upper control arm bolts would not budge with hammer, so I went and...

    Something new to l-u-s-t after

Black and dark tint... Love it! Looks like a cartel enforcer's car from Ozark or Better Call Saul... BAD A$$!

    Something new to l-u-s-t after

Depending on the cluster feels on any given day, I just count how many notches I move the lever... 1 Down for reverse 2 more down to Drive 3 back up to Park I don't even look anymore... Kind of like shifting a manual! LOL

    Side post terminal issues

The side-to-top adapter clamps were from O'Reilly. Can't recall the brand, but it is entirely possible the quality control on the molded lead was not 100%... Could have been a miscast before the bolt holes were threaded. I recall wanting to make them good and tight so I have no issues. I gave...

Added SWC, DIC stuff works but radio controls do not...

Call tech. support at Crutchfield. They will tell what would work and what wouldn't. You may be able to get away with a chime/SWC add-in module and maybe new harness connectors. Not sure if the head unit would need programming with Tech 2 still or not... Start with Crutchfield before going off...

Recommendations for a touch screen apple carplay head unit with backup camera function

I went with a "good-enough-for-me" radio. Not that it would be hard to cut a metal brace, but it was nice not having to do that with my Boss Audio Elite. It did not go deep enough to require cutting. It was about 12 F and night time. Cutting the dash brace would have spilled some blood for sure!

    Side post terminal issues

Could also change over the ring connector to the "normal" kind on the ends of the cables... Or get new cables... Ooops, here we are spending other peoples' money!

    Side post terminal issues

Military-style clamps like these actually provide more solid backing for multiple accessory cable connections... The fat block on the accessory side of the clamp won't cave in on you. Something like these would be much better. I would do these on top. You can also swap out longer bolts, if you...

    Side post terminal issues

I don't see why not. Put longer bolts in to make room for fat connectors on the accessories.

    Side post terminal issues

I got an Optima Red Top from NAPA three years ago and very happy with it. It was only 18 months old when I had to sell the Jeep I had originally installed this in, so I got top-post adapter clamps. Maybe not ideal setup, but the battery has been 100% solid for three years so far, even in the...

What Tire Pressures Does Everyone Run?

Should be a sticker inside the door jam on the driver's side with pressures for tires that were stock sizes for the truck. 32 would be correct for the stock size of 265/70 R17 LT tires. You can go a little softer in winter or trail riding, but somewhere close to the 32 (+/- a pound or two) would...

Black or Gray Mats on Pewter Interior?

Mine are dirty and maybe slightly faded from age! Don't hate... Finding time for interior vacuuming has been tough. Anyway, a PO got Husky Liners. They fit great, don't slide around. I think the color fits pretty good, IMHO. They do look a little better when nice and clean. They may have faded...

Recommendations for a touch screen apple carplay head unit with backup camera function

Nice! Boss Audio Elite I got did not require any cutting inside the dash either. Aside from purist restoration jobs, I still scratch my head on why anyone would not want to upgrade to a new head unit. Safer with hands-free, camera and all the modern conveniences that make driving just THAT...

New water pump and fan clutch? SOLVED

I can't answer anything on part specs. for this. As far as brand goes... I put a Hayden on my Jeep 4.0L. They were very highly rated by the members in the forum. No issues. Good quality part. If it is the correct one, go the HD for a couple extra dollars. Keep in mind, HD fan clutches usually...

So you are thinking about getting or already have a Tech II Clone or the real deal.......

I posted in another thread, that Chinacardiags.com has the Tech2 on sale now for $239. Was $90 off regular price, which I thought was reasonable to begin with! If looking, now might be the time to grab one.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

If easy enough to do, maybe just hose the connectors down Deoxit anyway. Won't hurt to clean up the contacts even more.

    Looking for diagnostic scan tool

Agreed. Even in the example you gave with the Autel, it could work even longer if the manufacturer didn't make any major changes to vehicle system programming. My Vetronix Tech 2 clone is supposed to be good on GM up to 2006 (or 07? I forgot). No updates required if working on GM up to that year.

Amazing how much that tiny amount of weight can make things vibrate and shake when it flies off!

    03 Tahoe AC Question

That's a stumper... Can't help at this point, so I guess I'll tap out. Boston comedian, Steven Wright, had a bit that wen something like this: Moved into a new apartment the other day... There was a switch near the closet. I flipped it on and nothing happened. I kept flipping it on-off-on-off...

04 Yukon crank but no start, no radio, no power windows/locks

Easiest items to check on first would be ground connections. The wires on the body mount below the front driver's side door are key for grounding out the body control module and a lot of the electronics in the truck. Start there. Remove, clean everything and make sure connections are solid...

    03 Tahoe AC Question

What you explain seems right to me. Also... I believe the Body Control Module (BCM) monitors and controls the AC, so swapping the HVAC control module in the dash to an aftermarket replacement would need a recalibration but should function the same as an original controller. I was going to add...
