The CVT will do fine, just add it into factory location. If you want to add an small amp later you can. Start small, no need to go full bore as you may be happy with a small investment first. You can always add, but can also over spend.

Of course I am an avid Solobaric fan, they've just done so much over the last 15 years or so :)

This might help.. i dont have anything sitting here to verify it but.. eh.. i found the same numbers in a few different places so it might be a good reference..

"of course bose never publishes specs on anything, but Ive taken apart both amps...the GMT-800 non-lux and lux Bose. They are quite different. The lux amps are 7 channel and the non-lux amps are 5 channel. The lux amps are a little over 350 watts, with over 100 watts going to the [dual voice coil] sub. The non-lux amps are like 150 watts, with only about 60 going to the sub."

I think the ohm issue.. is an issue.. but isnt as much of one as i though... bose drops ohm load to pull watts.. so they go with as low of a load as possible according to the area and size and airflow that GM (i n this case) gives them to put the amp.. so in some cases it might be a 1.3 ohm load and in some cases it might be a 2.4.. but youre right.. running a 2ohm speaker will get the max out of it.. or of course a DVC4.

MOBmentality for the win!!!! Dumb question but....say I found a lux Bose amp for cheap.....could I wire it in as replacement for the stock amp in my non Bose headunit? or is that asking way too much? Because if I could get more power to the subs and keep the amp in factory location then that would be bomb......now is this amp the one that is in the center console that controls the rear speakers?? Yea only reason I would really get the 2 ohm over the dvc4 is because its nearly half the price.

Just installed an 8 inch sub and amp this weekend. Spent like 75 bucks for wires, amp, sub. Put the sub in stock location, amp close to the sub in the compartment by the sub location. Wiring wasnt too difficult. Took longer to pop out all the door sills and hide the wires. If you dont want too run rca from behind the radio, you can get one of those rca adapters and run it right off the stock woofer location. Sounds decent. Like someone on the forum said it went from a 1 to about a 3. Thats good enough for me for about 75 bucks and 2 1/2 hours work. by the way did not install nothing too serious, since wife said budget was about 100 bucks.

boss amps are great untill they burn down your car. my friend had one bolted down and it burnt his car down to the ground. they cost like $100 for a reason. get a Rckford fosgate T500,T1000, T1500 or a T2000. i got a t1000 off ebay new for $355(retail for 700 on crutchfeild and 540 @car toys) =D. BTW if you r geting a new stock sub it wont sound better unless u get aftermarket amp for it.

I have a build thread for my box in the audio under

http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20475

MOB I have heard this sub in an equal box as an 8 and i liked the 10 better.. this speaker is the best sounding shallow mount that i have listend to or installed. Yes it is a huge upgrade from the stock crap.. and yes my setup will shake the truck and hurt your ears.. it is great once these speakers are broken in..

Is that the normal shallow 10 or the premier series?

I ended up replacing my stock sub with a shallow mount kicker 8" sub.....decided to put a small amp on it and its not overwhelming bass but it sounds a lot better than stock thats for sure. For under 100 bucks I think it sounds great. And if your stock sub is broken like mine was...Its definitely a good buy.
