07+ Brake upgrade on a 00-06 NBS, is it worth it?

Yup that's the set I bought, I just checked my Amazon history. They are and have been working very well for me. Just a little dusting but never a squeal. I would buy them again. Hope this helps....

What about the rears? Will the 07 for a 01 rear?
It was mentioned previously in this topic that the '06 and earlier actually had better rears than the '07-13, and that even if they worked they would be a downgrade. The best "stock" combo is to upgrade the front with 2007+ components, rebuild the rear with original style components, and upgrade to stainless lines during the process.

I would get high quality Dot 4... Get synthetic Dot 4 that has the highest boiling point... Price is not too relevant. I would not cheap out on brakes. :D



So here's my calipers painted up. Got a question tho before I start this swap tomorrow.

I did the upgrade on my Denali. Now I have 20" wheels and I wish I would have done the wheels first then done a big brake kit that is larger than the nnbs to fit out the inside of the wheels better. But the braking performance is definitely noticeable, especially when towing.

The thing is that going bigger than NNBS it's going to cost an arm and a leg... About 1/3 of what an NBS is worth...

I guess I should update this thread. I did do this upgrade a bit over a month ago. Is it worth it? I would have to say yes, especially if you need to replace your brakes anyways. I'm not sure I would want to incur the cost of the new calipers and brackets, pads, and rotors if what is on my truck is fairly new and working just fine. But since it was about time for new pads and rotors anyways, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the upgrade. I went with the Powerstop red powder coated calipers from Rockauto, Wagner Thermoquiet Ceramic pads, and Black Zinc plated Powerstop rotors.
Yes, it does stop better and faster than the original sized brakes. Is it a night and day difference? Not really, but it IS a pretty noticable improvement in stopping this big ass SUV. So I would say it's worth it if you need to replace your brakes anyways.

Update here as well:

So I got mine all done. Everything went on very easy, other than trying to use a garden sprayer to bleed the brakes. Ended up with brake fluid all over the floor, because it all just seeped through the master cylinder cap under pressure.

The upgrade is a night and day difference for me. I'm running 285/70/17's with 2" spacers and that combination made me have a horrible shimmy/wobble when slowing down for turns and stops. Now it stops smooth and quickly. Bled them the ol' fashioned way (2 person) and they are great. I really recommend this upgrade if you are running bigger tires or rims.

Which rotors and calipers did you go with?
