07+ Brake upgrade on a 00-06 NBS, is it worth it?

45 Pages on this subject going back 5 years! Anyone have a complete list of parts/websites from the SS brake lines to the painted calipers and associated brake pads to complete this mod? 02 Needs an upgrade! Thanks all!

Well write one up for us then Mikey!
There’s no one way to do it, so 2 people could do it and not use one of the same part numbers.
Your vehicle might have 5 or 6 brake hoses
Goodridge makes 5 and 6 hose kits, stoptech makes front and rear pairs
Power stop has kits with painted red calipers w/ brackets, drilled and slotted rotors, and brake pads… but they have different pad options
…so can I actually add something? I ordered mine before I heard of the goodridge center line fix, so I got stop tech 950.66001 fronts and 950.66500 rears, and new rubber center lines. Best price I found on stoptech was rcagarage.com but you have to search the part number because their listings suck. Most other parts, it’s hard to beat rockauto

I used the goodridge 5-piece stainless kit, but had to replace the center line. (P/N: 14175) This was before they started including the spacer in the kit. [emoji2959]. The kit for Stabilitrak-equipped NBS’s has 6 lines, and is: 14196.

Also used the Powerstop Z36 front kit for the GMT900, rotors and pads, but painted the factory calipers (thanks @Rocket Man, and The Machine), and recently replaced the rears with the Powerstop Z36 rear kit, rotors, pads, as well as powder coated red calipers, after deciding my fronts’ paint job wasn’t holding up very well. (We’ll see now that I repainted the with some brush-on Por-15… )

Powerstop front Z36 with powder coated calipers for a 2009 Yukon: K2069-36 (reportedly, the ‘09+ have provisions for the anti-drag clips, though the kit does not come with these)

Powerstop rear Z36 with powder coated calipers for NBS: KC2046-36

I have a 4wd, and that also is a key component to your vehicle. Different kits for 2wd / 4wd.

That reminds me that I never got around to replacing the center lines on mine. One more thing to put on the list...

Speaking of fun with center rear lines, I finally replaced mine. I’d ordered stop tech SS lines before I’d heard of he goodridge line fix. Didn’t put them on the same time as my fronts because the bleeders on the rear calipers snapped off, so I got new calipers all the way around now too. On the center rear lines I figured I’d just put on new ac delco lines. Rock auto only lists one line from ac delco, for active brake control / stabilitrac. Most other brands also only list one line, so I ordered 2 ac delco 18J4222 lines
Here’s the mounting brackets…

…so the locating slots are different for the center right vs center left. The 18J4222 is a center left, and rockauto doesn’t list a ac delco center right, and I don’t know if they even make one. It looks like centric is the only manufacturer of rubber lines rock auto lists with 2 different part numbers, calling it 15” and 15 1/2”, looks like 15066404 is their center left, and 15066358 is their center right. The stop tech lines I installed at the 4 corners don’t use the locating slots, and I’m guessing other SS lines might avoid this issue at the center lines as well.
So I went to orilleys, figured I could get the right line for $10-15 there…. They had a similar listing as well, only one center line for stabilitrac. They also listed a gm 2 line assembly with brackets for $154 plus shipping plus tax, and in 2 days they could hear back how long it would take to get…
So I went back home and started grinding…

that’s all it takes to use 2 center left lines. I guess gm didn’t want anyone to accidentally cross the lines. If you do end up grinding yours, be mindful of the orientation so that the line isn’t twisted, the lower end I thought was just a hex at first glance, but it’s not.

anyway… finally driving on SS lines at all 4 corners, and new rubber center lines. The brake pedal is now almost weirdly high and firm, but I figure that’s a good thing.

Here is photo of mine set(bought 2years ago).

I don’t know what thread it was in, but doesn’t sound like they changed the lines. They have little conical washers they include now, and sounded like someone contacted them and they’ll send them out to you if yours didn’t include them

It was me, just a month or two ago. Yes, they send you a tiny little washer with no instructions. It still leaked for me, PITA to try and get the washer to stay in there and pray it lines up etc. I ended going back to oem for all my brake lines. The center SS still leaked, because the threads themselves were boogered up. I hated the janky way to mount the front SS that is included. Highly recommend you remove the front brackets from your old lines and make them fit the SS lines- that isn’t exactly easy though. The 4 non center lines were fine, really. I just got tired of messing with it.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the front brake kit by PowerStop KC2069 and KC5519? 5519 is the Police version and $50 more for the kit but the pics on PowerStop look the same.
