120k maintenance tune up

Hi guys!

I'm a new member here.
So I have a 99 Denali, and I went in for a quote on a 120k tune up.
They quoted me @ around $1000 dollars. I don't mind paying this, if this is an avg quote, but at the same time I'm not sure if they are trying to rip me off or what. I had always thought tune ups run around 400-500.

Can anyone help, and also, what should be included in this tune up.

I told them to do a full tune up, as i've yet to do any of it w/in the past 10 years (i told them this), besides the oil change and minor repairs that occurred.

does the price seem reasonable?

Welcome to the forum!

The problem with answering your question is: there is no set definition for "tune up". They could be including oil, filter, plugs, wires, air filter, transmission fluid, tx filter, brake fluids, pcv valve etc etc. Or not. Or more!

Without a breakdown of what is included, it is impossible to know if it is a good, fair or bad deal.

Get a written quote, post up the info here and you will get some great info from the group. Also, your location would help too.

So here's the part breakdown with the part cost/labor cost

Distributor cap - 78/43
Ignition cable set - 213/120
Spark plug - 120/119
Ignition rotor - 18/43
Air filter element - 43/34
Fuel filter - 21/43

All parts are ac delco and labor @ 85/hr

Do these prices seem reasonable?

Also reason for this tune up is because I'm having a misfire

I would ask them to diagnose the misfire first. I'm not saying one of those parts wont cure the misfire, and it is not good to maintain your vehicle, but if you pay them to replace said items, there is no guarantee you wont drive away with the same issue.

Well, all these things you listet above you can do it by yourself with a little mechanical skills. This would safe you alot of labor... If you just want to get rid of the misfire and don't want to spend that much money right now, have a look in another thread here named "idling weird". There's a very similar issue there...

man theyre charging u list price on those parts. buy the parts your self and have them or a mechanic who does side jobs install them. if you cant diy

Water Pump
Coolant Flush
Fuel Filter
Hi Performance Air Filter
Rear Diff.
Plugs
Wires
Sea Foam (Fuel System, Crank Case, Vacuum lines/EGR)
Battery
Both front Wheel bearings & ABS Sensors


................and I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
