Hi guys,
I recently got a 2000 Tahoe Lt with 174,000 miles and a new trans at 162,000. I am consistently getting 12 mpg. I am not a lead foot and drive conservatively. I have a friend with a 2003 Tahoe with 186,000 miles who is a fire chief which naturally leads to aggressive driving habbits and he consistently gets at least 15. What's going on here? Thanks

Mine is ****** also, of course I hae a pretty mean exhaust manifold leak. I also have a weak upstream o2. So if you have any of those 2 that will hinder mpg.

12 isnt bad,. thats what i get with mixed city/hwy driving. things to check are fuel filter, air filter, typical tune up etc... if his is a 2wd, they get better mileage as well than a 4wd truck... gears also affect gas mileage, so theres alot to compare here...
