Hi guys I have a 2001 Denali with approx 220k on th odometer. Today while driving the idle would fluctuate between 1500-3000rpm while I was driving on the expressway. When stope at a light the car would idle at 500-700rpm. The trans also had and issue upshifting until around 3000rpm. Trans was rebuilt @ 5k ago, so I'm pretty sure its not an issue. This all started today. I'm about 75 miles from home, but I don't want to move my car and risk being stranded. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Any codes thrown?

Service engine light did not come on. There is and auto parts store within a safe distance that might be able to tell me if there is anything showing though.

I had something simular.. how ever my truck actually shut down on me 3 times... and would bogg if i stepped on the gas pedal going up a hill.. it was 32deg C so im thinking my fuel pump over heated, or my filter is in need of change,. let us know!

Had Autozone check, no codes. The guy that worked there seems to think it may be the TPS?

That's a good place to start! IMO it's also a good thing there aren't any codes. That being said, electronic components can become "crippled", meaning they haven't completely failed yet so they won't throw codes, but their intermittent and/or partial failures lead to odd situations like this. TPS is definitely a good place to start. Try to get a hold of a sensor tester. That way you can check all the major sensors without having to replace them all one by one. That's what I'd do.

my truck did the same, and I had to replace a wire that was to hot to my fuel pump. Simple fix, but it had already burned up my fuel pump. I would definitely get your wiring checked.

Yeah, my truck was bogging through my 10hr trip... Around 8hrs in, shut my truck totally off and almost like it was deisling but not really.. lost oil pressure, though i blew the oil pump... Then I lifted the hood seen no leaks or any sign of failure... Turned it over a couple times finally fires.... did it a couple more times.. Finally hit the fuel tank with my hand, turned over first time every time it died out... So I think mine is something to do with the fuel pump.. Its fine now, it seems Ill know once I go home from work and drive 10hrs again... Seemed like it heated up to much and over heated and shut off..

I'm thinking it may be the fuel pump on mine too. I haven't done anything because my truck was sitting as I was away on business. I notice that my truck bogged in the same area on my route. I was pulling a hill and I thought it was going to cut off. Seems like it couldn't get enough fuel. Looks like a pump and filter change would be a good start.
