not really a whole lot of other possibilities, if it was the Security module it would attempt to start and then die a second later and the security light would be flashing at you but it doesn't sound like that is the problem.
ignition switch could be bad, but I think you could confirm that by checking to see if the starter solenoid is getting power when you turn it to start.
just for ***** & giggles have you checked your fuses?

Check Your battery voltage. Lights will come on and look like things are normal but if you are below 12 volts the car will not try to start to protect the computers. I had this happen with multiple vehicles, my 2001 Yukon XL and last week a relatives Dodge Journey. Sister said the lights come on it can't be the battery. It was, I charged it to get to 12.2 volts started the car. Turned it off, opened the door to turn on courtesy lights and after a minute was below 12 volts. Battery was 3 months old. Bad battery replaced under warranty.

I think you’re in the right track checking the starter solenoid. If it was good, you would at least hear the “click” as it throws the bendix gear for engagement with the flywheel. Since there is no sound at all when turning the key and we know the battery is good, I strongly suspect the coil inside the solenoid is bad.

So I tried smacking the starter best I could, but to no luck. Came over here to the local junkyard to pick up a used starter right now. Going to see if it does the trick later on

if you don't have a meter you can turn the key to run and jump a wire from the battery hot to the solenoid hot, it might spark at ya a bit
once you have it out you can test it the same way or with a battery charger
if it starts with a jumper then it might be something in the ignition switch.

Ugh I hope it's not the switch lol... So I went to the local LKQ pick a part here in Victorville yesterday, pulled this starter (pictured in image attached) out of a 2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3 Vortec 2WD. I am going to install it later today. I hope it works. It was a pain in my backside getting it outta the Silverado, even being 2WD, MIne is 4WD...

Might want to test the starter before you install it. Either do it on your bench at home or take it to an autozone and ask them to test it.
