unless it was making noise or you were blowing massive pillows of white smoke out the tailpipe then it's highly unlikely that the engine is seized. No I am wrong to say it in this way "cranking"...I turn the key. Also I did not shut it off in working condition it had shut off while driving on the interstate.
this statement right here???? when did you replace the battery? you stated you took it to autozone and they tested it and charged it and that it was goodThank you for clarification I put my vehicle info below but for some reason cannot attach an image of my codes. I found the purple wire coming from the fuse box that leads to the starter solenoid. I probed it and measured the voltage at that point and there was still 7 volts when cranking. I did some research on the ignition switch and I did not realize that a faulty switch could cause the vehicle to stop while driving. The symptoms all match up to what I am experiencing. I think i may have jumped the gun going off of what I knew about my brothers experience and when down the wrong rabbit hole. Kicking myself a little for an unnecessary replacement of the starter and battery. Looks like I will be on the hunt for a new ignition switch and see. Is there anyway to bypass this and see if it is in fact the culprit?
my brother in law brought his truck over to me one time because it had intermittent start, we were both pretty sure it was the starter, I disconnected the positive battery cable set it to the side, pulled the starter and I thought you know what I am going to test this right here on the ground, went and got my battery charger, hooked it up and dam starter worked every single time over and over, so guess what? pulled the negative battery terminal off and walla crap ton of hidden corrosion, looked fine from the outside. wire brushed it, stuck the starter back in, hasn't had a problem since.I have never been a fan of taking anything off a vehicle to go have it tested. Needs to be on the vehicle and all attached to test correctly, IMO. I have replaced "tested good" starters before and fixed problems.
