Had a rough idle bogging issue a few days ago. Bought used with 110,000 and currently have 174,000. Hadn't done plugs on it since we owned it so figured it would be a good time for plugs wires and coil packs. Replaced those and still was idling rough. Had it plugged into an autozone scanner and said there were misfires on cylinder 6. Order fuel injectors and while attempting to reinsert the fuel rail and injectors into the vehicle I notice one of plastic caps (pintel cap) on the bottom of the injector is gone (most likely into the hole). The cylinder where the injector is spraying seems to be fully open. I tried using a plastic utensil in the injector hole to feel around.
1. Would this tiny plastic piece do anything but be vaporized upon fire up?
2. Would there be a scenario where I could pull the spark plug and fish out said cap?
3. What would he the issue running that injector without it's cap

Quote:"I just rotated the cylinder to TDC and pulled the spark plug and got a fat straw and stuck it in my shop vac and taped up around it so all the suction was going through the straw and stuck it in the cylinder and moved it around a bunch and hoped it got it."

Welcome to the forum from Oregon. You are going to have to follow what @PNWTahoe said or cross your fingers and hope you can dig out of there your way or hope it causes no problems. You said you ordered "injectors" meaning you replaced all of them? Noticed the cap gone on a new injector? Noticed the cap was gone on the old injector from cylinder #6? Please be more detailed on this.

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.

If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.
