OK,,, dont laugh. I pulled the trans pan over the weekend to try and to the 1/4" turn to the pressure solornoid to improve the shifts.

I pull the filter, and when I put it back in, and tried to put the pan back on, the pan wont sit flat. Its rocking on the filter. I pulled the pan again and the filter is tight against the valve body so it seemed to be up all the way.

Beyond embarrasing,,,, I cant figure out what Im missing, I ran out of time and had to get to a party.

Anyone ever run into this on a 4l65 before?

1. Did you change the ring seal with the filter?

2.Did you get the right filter? There are two. Is the bottom of your pan flat or have a step?

2 things: either you did not remove the filter seal and are trying to instal the new filter with another seal on it or you got the filter for the deep pan for your shallow pan. compare.

Also, I know this is dumb, but do you have the pan backwards?

Verified your filter is seated all the way? It'll go in a bit, then push it bore and it'll pop in all the way

Post pics of filter and attempted pan install

Also remove new filter, place on flat surface, place old filter next to it on flat surface, then check the tops with a level or tape measure or something
