some gen 4 goodness, been messing with IAT vs VE table to try and smooth out the temp swings from 120* intake temps down to 40* intake temps. not sure what i did but took a little too much out of it

One of these days I’m gonna get serious about learning this shit. I’m appreciate you taking the time to explain things and give examples(in your thread and others). Also, thanks @Dantheman1540 for doing the same. I really struggle with keeping focus in the computer department

Red is a whole lot scarier when you know there's a Wuhan War Whistle begging to break stuff.

I'm with you I feel like I've wasted so much time and money on tuning stuff and I still hardly know WTF I'm doing lol. Posting always helps me actually absorb and workout what sin my head. Sure I look like an idiot sometimes but it helps me a ton. My goal with everything I do is to be able to teach someone that has little to no knowledge of the subject to be successful in doing the task on their own. Teaching is one of the most effective ways to learn and the only path to true mastery.

I have a buddy that moved to north port Florida about 6 months ago. I’m not sure how close you and @randeez are to that area but if I ever venture that deep into Florida man territory, I’d like to meet (or meat) up with you guys

tune at your own risk.... lol

yea its intimidating at first, one of the worst things for me is "knowing" what i want to change but having no idea what table to make the changes too...i've spent days literally just googling "hptuners e38 XXXXXX table" because some of the descriptions dont make sense, or are called a multiplier but they work off of cam rotations not standard rpm, or whatever. ive messed with a table i knew is what i wanted to do for ever and had a hell of a time just to find out higher numbers meant it went down lower numbers mean it go up.... its not that its wrong - its just how hptuners interprets and manipulates the tune and how it has to be done

I bought hpt in late 2011 when I did the ls swap on my c10. I spent months reading. I found out that there’s 50 different ways to get the same results. No one does anything the same way. I got overwhelmed and just gave up.

Randy is just on the opposite shore but not to bad of a drive I don't think. I'm about 2.5 hours away according to the google, not far I'd totally do a meat up sometime.

I haven't broken anything by tuning..... yet..... *****knocks furiously on wood*****

I know the struggle! Trying to figure out how to word a search when looking for info on HPT is very difficult. Gen 4 is a whole different animal I'm glad I'm dealing with the simpler stuff.

I spent about 2 weeks everyday after work trying to get my buddies 408 denali to stop stalling and stop having crazy rev hang in neutral while rolling. Every forum post said adjust throttle follower and throttle cracker. I did the same thing with adding not subtracting and then finally went back to a stock file and realized everything I did made it worse and it was actually the base idle airflow that was all jacked up. That truck was so messed up even after that the only thing that fixed it was loading my Tahoe tune in it and starting from that.

Have either of you guys figured out the real time tuning function? Back when I was reading, they said that you could log and overlay the corrections. 3-4 times of that and you’d be 99.9% set. Obviously the more you did it, the better it got. For something like Randy’s truck, it wouldn’t be optimal but for a simple drivability tune, it seems perfect

no RTT with gen 4 stuff

on the older stuff i think you had to select which tables you wanted to use for the RTT

I remember hearing a ton about the RTT before I got HPT now I can't remember the last time I saw anything about it. Its certainly not mentioned in any tuning videos I've watched. Haltechs have a sort of RTT and it works great on my buddies rotary.

got a friend over in st pete/largo i usually stay with over that way...been wanting to do some more stuff at bradenton track (streetcartakeover this weekend) im just beat....the drive over sucks usually

I've only been down there once for a cleetus and cars. I haven't been to a race track and race in 6 or 7 years. I'd like to start going but I need something besides my DD to race lol.
