270k mile oil change done, Wix tall bou filter with 5qts of pennzoil GTX full synthetic, and 1qt Lucas oil stabilizer. Drain plugs looked good and so did the filter, very happy with this unknown SBE. Also noticed that the Fram gold filter i took off has a newer design metal screen encapsulating the filter element and I wasnt able to cut it with a razor blade to open the medium up and inspect it like usual. That's good and bad, good because I suspect the filter would easily be good for 20k miles. Bad because I cant inspect them as well, might stick to a cheaper filter from now on since I change at 5k. The fram gold would be better suited for my Tacoma that sees less than 10k a year but only gets an oil change once a year at best.

Looks like the tranny is starting to leak out the top shifter rubber 1" spacer plate. Not a huge deal because I'm planning on draining it for the temp sensor install soon anyway. Not sure why this NV4500 seems to eat those top spacers so much this is the second one since I owned it.

You use conventional right? Even with the cheapest oil out there 3k is kinda soon IMO, I certainly wouldn't think youd need a super expensive filter for that short interval. Unless 3k is like 9 months time.
I do use conventional. When I took both of my vehicles to get an oil change the guy used synthetic. After a few months the motor got $crewed in the Tahoe, and the oil pressure eventually went to 0 at idle in my van--and it started knocking. I think with the van the synthetic loosened up alot of sludge which eventually clogged oil passages, which I think eventually did something to the oil pump. It looked like whomever owned the van never did oil changes. Tremendous amount of sludge! Replaced the oil pump and it was fine. I now have around 60 psi at startup. Synthetic scares me lol.

I remember reading that in your thread, I'd be scared too lol. Its amazing the van just needed an oil pump and is fine that's lucky! Did you do anything else to help clean out the sludge? Maybe run some ATF in the oil?

After the oil pump was done I filled it with 6 quarts of trans fluid and let it run for awhile, drained then filled with conventional. Did another oil change maybe 500 miles later and that's it. Now the tc is slipping, taking a few seconds to go into drive. I need to take it to the trans guy to replace the tc and pump now. Van is a POS, and it's gonna cost me $1300! It only has 151k on it too. Getting back to the oil change--I'm pretty religious with the 3k oil changes. Actually I think when it's cold idle might be more like 80 psi. Put a hv melling in it. Warmed up it's around 60 at idle.
