Good info, black rRTVtv never seemed all that tough to me but even my LSX engine bulding book said to use black rtv so thats what I used before, I don't like how RTV doesn't stick into the threads as that Permatex stuff does. I'll use that Permatex stuff for sure now!

Ain't nothing standard about @randeez :p.
Honestly, I call all of it RTV. It could've been permatex brand for all I know. Just black, oil resistant gasket maker. Something I had laying in the drawer. Anything that isn't going to get eaten by oil will be fine.

Also, I think my BTR bolts were a little shorter but I read a ton of stuff saying the bolt sticking down doesn't have much negative affect on performance. I'm pretty sure my camaro has the stock bolts and I doubt I cut them off. Cutting them off cant hurt but I don't think its a huge deal if you don't

Calling everything RTV is a bit misleading. All the different products serve different purposes but I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that. Thread sealant isn’t gasket maker. :insane:

So if your mouth is wide open and you have the tip of a d**k in it you won't feel a difference when breathing vs not having the tip of a d**k in your mouth?

P.S. This sounds kinda rude when I read it in my head but that's not the intended effect it's just a dirty innuendo. ;)

just pile up about 6 washers under each rocker, that way the bolts done protrude into the port

I take no offense big D. I was just give you some reassurance from when I did this on my own stuff. I couldn't find a good answer on which bolts actually worked but most said it wasn't enough to matter. I'm pretty sure the BTR bolts were shorter than stock but I didn't take a single picture of the exhaust port.

Understandable.

Sometimes when I don’t have the right sized washer I just make them out of Pennys.

I don't have a race truck so I wasn't all that concerned with it. Honestly, the only reason I have ported heads is because I didn't want to wait on a valve job on the stockers.

Cut the bolt off and send-er.

I can't remember who on here had some ported heads and was questioning that bolt hole being exposed after porting, a while back. Thats what made me remember my camaro smoking because the oil seeping past the bolt and having to seal it. If you compare what's there on a stock head, vs that little bolt, I think thats why they say its not a huge deal. Obviously it will hurt the flow some, but IDK if its a single HP or not
