Making progress slowly on the tune, cleaning my MAF and MAP seemed to help a ton. Also I finally got fed up with the catch cans not catching all the vented oil so I'm running the can with a breather to vent to atmosphere instead of recirculating into the intake. The main reason for the change was that the MAP sensor was soaked in oil, also since the can was reentering the intake behind the MAP and MAF I figured it might be causing some vacuum leak symptoms. The truck hasn't stalled since the cleaning and replumbing.

Anyone have a wood grain steering wheel for sale? My leather wrapped one is starting to peal at the top and it drives me nuts. I hate steering wheel covers, and have always liked the escalade wheel feel. Not overly concerned about the fact I have no other wood trim anywhere.

hows the welding coming?
Metals getting stuck together, I'm pretty competent to weld just about anything steal or aluminum. Its more of the fab side of stuff that I wish we would get into more. I might pull the Tahoe exhaust off soon and clean up all the welds with some Tig action. I know everywhere I goobered mig welds on is pretty ugly and I think I have a few small pin hole leaks.

im about ready to throw my pos mig in the trash, i can lay down some ok looking welds..but the thing is so inconsistant with feed speed, or even feeding at all and amperage. like literally the same thing i was just welding 10 minutes before the welds turn out completely different. i nearly ordered the same everlast you got the other day...but i really dont have much to weld atm so i didnt

Make sure the lead is not kinked and doesn't have any sharp loops in it, it can really mess with how it feeds. Migs, even really nice ones can be super annoying. I probably had to stop every 2 foot of weld to clean the nozzle on the big millers we have at school just because of how much spatter it put out.

That Everlast has worked great for stick welding but I have yet to TIG with it, I really need more power to my shop and I have basically everything but the conduit and the trench dug.

TIG is life, TIG is love.

Is yours a scratch start or do you have a pedal.

I’m currently working scratch start carbon steel in my class, I’ve already don’t pedal start aluminum and SS. My Everlast at home has the ability to be scratch, pedal, or what I guess I’ll call a “dimmer switch” on the torch itself. Basically a hand pedal on the torch for out of position welding. I can’t wait to use it for TIG but it’s so much easier to take stuff with me during the week and use free supplies for now.

Scratch start feels like poor people TIG, pedals are cheap and I don’t ever want to do weird structural stuff. Worst case scenario if I’m laying under a truck trying to TIG I can set the max amps to what I want to run at and just use the pedal as an on/off switch instead of a throttle if that makes sense.
