Eventually I will probably upgrade but I planned this build right at the edge of critical limits of the blower. It's got new bearings now and I've seen plenty of guys spinning them even faster than I will be. I'm only shifting at 6,800 rpm, some guys run up to 7,200-7,800 with more aggressive pulley combos. Heat is what kills these things and that's why I added such a big ice box and heat exchanger. I plan on an interchiller when a local friend is done with development...

If I ever really need more than 850hp or smoke the blower (most guys are making over 700whp with similar and less aggressive combos) I will probably go with a Turbo or 2650 blower. Let's hope that's not an issue lol


Who made you icebox? Looks sick. How hard was it for you to rebuild the LSA bearings, was it extensive?

Thats too bad. I have non-catted headers/ypipe and was considering them. Perhaps I'll stick with my plans for a single vibrant cat after the ypipe. I've read they're more resistant to damage.

Honestly it wasn't too bad at all. I've never rebuilt a blower and I went through the whole thing pretty quick. Use high quality fasteners and just make a plate with holes for the bolts that sits on the face of the blower when pulling the blower hub. Make sure you get full thread engagement, and grade 10 bolts because they are small. The snout shaft comes out easy if you have a press and bearings come off easy as well. I used a slide hammer with a bearing puller that I modified slightly to get the case bearings out. The hubs press back on really easy and can just be done with a socket and hammer.

I pulled my rotor pack and inspected it and changed the oil. Glad I did because ******** did the oil stink. Smelled like crap in the shop for over a week. I don't think the oil was ever changed when it was rebuilt when I got it. Also I noticed one of the shaft bearings had grease getting pulled into the blower so it must of had a vacuum leak at the snout at some point. I feel much better knowing all the bearings are new and oil is fresh...

I can't recommend them. I was very conservative on my tune, pretty disappointed with the Kooks Cats and now I've heard it's somewhat common...

I'll find the number for you but it's in the thread here somewhere... No drone at all, sounds freaking great. Better than any Corvette or Camaro/CTS I've heard. Those sound raspy to me

Magnaflow #12909 ;-)

Got it! Sounds good. My headers through the stock muffler sound like ass. Too raspy and like a pissed of race car.

Ice box is actually a CX Racing part I got from a guy locally. It's meant to fit in a battery tray and has the tab welded on the side to use a factory style battery hold down clamp. I made one real quick out of some plate....

Really nice looking work. U make me want to learn to weld. I sure could use you to do a proper dual exhaust on my truck. The welds these local guys do look like Ray Charles was their instructor.

My only question is how big is your blower after all that porting? Gotta be close to or larger than 2.3 and does porting weaken it any?

That lssimple setup seems to be a joke.. seen other guys have issues with it. Scrap the bad ones..The bad publicity is not worth it..

So you used a rebuild kit or just ordered the numbers? looking at replacing mine before I swap to a smaller pulley and e-85. I didnt use the Ls simple kit, I used the OKW kit and had to massage it a little, but once the bugs were worked out, it works perfectly. Im looking for an icebox but, I want a compostie one instead of aluminum, but will settle on a metal one if the price is right.
