Does anyone know if the bearing points that let the steering wheel turn smoothly are something that can be oiled or greased? My wife complained (and I also heard it) that when you turn the wheel, say to go into a parking stall or garage, that you hear a few small, faint sounds like the bearings inside that hold the steering shaft are squeaking. Note: this has nothing to do with power steering or that fluid, it is only inside.

Thoughts?

Bump. any idea for a fix here? thank you!

Is the vehicle still within the warranty? I would recommend taking it to the dealer. They will be able to diagnose/repair the issue for you. Let me know what you find out.

Anyone get this fixed?

Mine isn't "squeaking" per se -- it makes a "whirring" sound when turning (most noticeable when you have to rotate the wheel a good bit at slow speeds, like when navigating a parking lot). It makes the noise both directions. Very odd.

Sounds a lot like what was going on in my dads old NBS avalanche. Their was a grease pack under the dash, at the knuckle which allows the steering wheel to tilt up and down... The fix at the time was to inject a new type of grease into that grease pack and it fixed the problem (dealer did it free at the time)...

Not sure that its the same thing, but same kind of symptoms...

I know what you are saying, but I also dont see any updates on whether or not the GM Cust Service people ended up helping... I wish the forum members would post updates too!

Some other posts from Breanne include:

"Welcome to the forum! Any luck on finding the right vehicle yet? Have you checked out GM's 'Certified Used' website? I would start there you can search your local area or surrounding areas for the..."
"Soulsea,
So, how did it go? What did the dealer do? I can't wait to hear an update, and hopefully some pics of your beautiful new ride!
Breanne"
"What was the word from the dealer yesterday? Did they get a chance to look at it yet? Keep us updated!"
"Did you take it to the dealer yet, or try the fix that jr stated? Keep us updated, please."

In all these cases, the only responses have been... "Do you say anything else"... Im sure some people have taken it to the dealer, but have not updated the post... I think if more of us started updating based on dealer information, we could better help each other...

AGREE, point well taken.

However, on the other hand I have also seen people inquire to see if there was an e-mail address they could send their information to, as some did not have enough posts in order to PM Breanne. She never responded (at least officially on this site) either.
