2009 Tahoe 6.2L HP

What is the actual 2009 6.2L HP? I keep reading all different reviews. Some say 380. Other are saying about 405HP.

Also what is the difference this and the vette/Camaro LS3 besides detune.

Heads, Valves etc???

I believe it is 395 the Denali and Escalade has 403hp.

Yes Tahoe is 395 and Denali and Escalade are 403. But all are rated at 417 tq so I don't think you will notice any difference in power.

yeah the escalade is rated at 403...I really doubt you'd be able to tell a difference even with a dyno. I imagine they all come off the same line, probably making between 395 and 405. They rate the escalade higher to give people a reason to justify spending the additional 9k or so on what is otherwise the same truck.

Ya pretty much and the Denalis used to be rated at 380 but they have since bumped them up and i would guess cause they started offering the 6.2 in the Tahoe

I've always wondered what the difference could be between the "380hp" in my Yukon Denali and the "403hp" in the Escalade. I always thought it was marketing only, but then I noticed my Denali upshifts at a pretty low rpm at redline, below the hp peak of the Escalade. So, is it merely shift points???

The cylinder heads on the 6.2L, or L92 as it's called by GM, have variable valve timing (like a Honda VTEC). The L92 is actually a more sophisticated engine than the LS3 in the Corvette & I'll bet in the next year or two the 'Vette will have VVT as well.

Here is a great article on the L92, where they started with a bone stock engine with headers and added only a Comp Cam & phaser kit and came out with 499.5 HP. Round up and that's 500HP with only a cam and headers.
