Have realistic expectations in the app for a (now sub $100) inexpensive camera, but for me it was good enough. If I really need to tinker with videos on the SD card, I just take the card itself out and use a laptop. 1 other thing with the Tahoe being always on with regards to the 12V outlets, I added an ignition switched relay to change that. I didn't want the cam on all the time. https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/12v-outlets-always-on.141272/page-2#post-1878022

Dash cams are weird in that there are cheap ones that "work" (but the app/UI is unusably bad) or expensive ones ($500+) that work much better. I was looking for the sweet spot (4K front, app not absolutely terrible, but cheap enough that I can replace it if needed). I went through a few different ones and landed eventually on 3 of these. I paid ~$150 for them originally, but now they're $99 with a $20 digital coupon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BL6N5LGS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 "

OMBAR Dash Cam Front and Rear 4K/2K/1080P+1080P 5G WiFi GPS, Dash Camera for Cars with 64G SD Card, Dual Dash Cam with WDR Night Vision, 24h Parking Mode,170°Wide, G-Sensor, Loop Recording, APP "

I have them in 3 cars and 2 other family members cars, good insurance, but you'll need the extension cable to reach the rear windshield.

Thanks, I just ordered that one. Has a $20 coupon now so it’s $80. Also if you use the Amazon card it’s 7% cash back as well.

I’ll wait until I get the camera to see what accessories I need. Looks like I need a camera extension like you stated as well as a power feed because I don’t want to use a cig lighter for it. Already have a mirror tap for a radar detector will have to do something else….

I used the MBEC plug to power mine. Used batt power (always on) because I wanted mine for parking mode recording.

For the rear, I ran the cable through the existing wire harness to the glass, coming from under the vent cover.

I just installed mine but I took off that rubber and ran it inside there like the stock wires, no need to cut it up. You shouldn’t put holes in that rubber conduit it’s supposed to stop water from getting inside to the headliner.

Yea,.. I considered that.... But when the hatch is closed, any moisture is contained then exits along the drip channel behind the weather strip. Plus,' the little opening'.... nearly impossible for outside water to touch there.....
( I lost patience to pull out the rubber cover completely to do what you did properly.... My bad )

Yeah I was just posting that it can be done that way even though it is a little bit of a PITA. I’d atleast wrap your holes with some rubber sealing tape. Then you should be 100%

I picked up the Rove 2 camera system. Very happy with the camera and it has more bells and whistles than I will ever need. After using it for a few months, I grew tired of the power cable dangling from the windshield, so I picked up an adapter which let me take off power from the rearview mirror assembly. The adapter came from Gen5DIY, it wasnt cheap, it was a pain to install, but once done it looks nearly factory. I'm able to place the camera behind the rearview mirror on the left side, no cables are visible, and it does not hinder visibility in any way....and its still easy to take down to review footage or pull the memory card.
