Hi everyone,

I’ve been hunting a used Yukon and I’m hoping for a little advice. I’m aware of the issues with 2015’s but less knowledgeable on 2016’s. I have 2 vehicles I’m looking at and not sure which way to go:

1) 2015 Yukon Denali. Roughly 30,000 miles. This is a certified pre owned. Price is about $44,000.

2) 2016 Yukon SLT. Roughly 30,000 miles. This is NOT certified pre owned. Price is about $43,000.

I’m completely stuck and don’t know what to do. The SLT does have the options I’m looking for. Does that fact that the Denali is certified and therefor has the extra 12 months of warranty make it more attractive? Or does the SLT being a year newer make that the better choice?

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated!

The certified in my opinion would be the better deal. Do a Google search and look up certified pre owned, CPO. They recondition the vehicle and provide things like two remotes, oil changes and if you purchase a GMEPP warranty which I recommend on these electronic laden new vehicles the CPO gives you better pricing on the warranty. Good value for the customer for CPO. Good luck with your decision.

I'd go with the Denali and the CPO. And if it's got the 6-speed instead of the 8-speed transmission, even better. 6s seem to be better IMO.

I would rather buy a 2016 for the reasons you mentioned. Can you find a 2016 CPO SLT or Denali?

Also, is the 2016 SLT a private sale or dealer? Provide some more info

I vote for the 2016 CPO. I have bought several CPO vehicles [so have family members and friends] and we all had zero issues with them. They all were very well maintained. All came with service records. You might want to consider a Tahoe instead of a Denali if you can get a really good deal on it.

Thanks for the reply’s everyone. I actually ended up finding a 2016 CPO Denali with 40,000 miles on it for what I think is a good price ($44,000). I had to expand my search a little so I have a nice drive ahead of me this weekend but it will be worth it. Seems like going with a 2016 was a better choice, even if it had a few more miles on it.

I’ll be sure to post some pictures once I get it home!
