HID headlights in the Denali, dim halogen lights in the SLT. If I did it again I would go with the Denali just for the extra power and better headlights. However, my SLT with the max tow package and higher gear ratio still moves surprisingly quick. Plus I'm getting 24 mpg on the highway.

There was no chance I was buying another 5.3l in one of these behemoths. The 6.2l 8 speed is the only reason I bought the Denali. All of the awesome equipment was just a bonus.

I'm trading out of an '09 Escalade ESV today into a '15 Yukon XL SLT. One of the motivations is to get out from under the 6.2L. It's a big thirsty motor that needs top shelf gasoline. It's more than my family of 6 needs to move us around. We traded out of an 5.3L '08 Suburban into the Escalade ESV. Had both vehicles for about 3 weeks and wasn't impressed by the performance difference, so back to a 5.3L we go...

Can you check in with your impressions as you get it on the road? I'm in the same boat: 6.2 or 5.3.

Im not sure you can neccessarily compare an older 6.2, with the EcoTec3 L86 version with AFM and other improvements. I've seen many on here post decent milage figures on the newer setup.

showtime1k, the answer on mileage is no. The 8speed does not get better mileage. From the GM website. Tahoe: 16/23 Denali: 15/22.

What. About the 6.2 6spd compared to the 6.2 8spd mpg
