Howdy folks

Took delivery of the white frost beauty today and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT !!

Still figuring out some stuff but most importantly, couldn't program our craftsman garage door opener with the Denali (garage opener has learning code)

I followed the manual (and the GM utube link) but they all require the physical door opener in hand (which is paired with the vehicle initially...then the 'learn' button on the garage door.)

In my case, we've NEVER had the garage door openers ...all our cars were programmed directly to the garage door without it.

On my wife's X5, it was easy....old down the button on the X5...run inside..hit te learning button on the Crafstman, run back to the X5 and then hold down the button to program.

I tried the same process on the Denali and no go. It was painful to leave her outside in the cold today :-(. But hey...I did catch my neighbors eyeing our new truck :)!!

Thanks in advance!

^ Which link ? I couldn't find any vids on how to program it WITHOUT the receiver/remote control. Most of the utube ones are with the home link receiver/controller on hand.

Thanks.

a door opener is ~$30 from Lowes. (which is outrageous, esp if you won't use it again. I use mine to open the garage door from the kitchen, so you can walk out with your hands full)

may have to buy one & use it.

I have a cheapie door opener (looks like a key fob) and after you program the garage door with the vehicle, the cheapie won't work anymore, so you have to push the button on the door opener and re-learn the cheapie.

Hi all

UPDATE: Ended up buying the remote from Sears or $30 (cheapest one they had in stock). Took me 5 mins to program it to the vehicle/garage door.

Guess unlike my past vehicles, the Denali can only be programmed with the handheld remote.

Hope this helps if anyone else gets stuck like me.

I had a hard time programing my 2016 Yukon Denali to my Genie garage door opener. I couldn't find the hand held remotes. After reading the manual & still unsuccessful, I searched the forum & found this thread.

I went to Home depot & bought a Genie remote for $19 still no luck. Got the owner's manual back out & after several attempts to link my new remote to the denali, I went back & hit the learn button on the unit & was able to sink it to the Denali. What a pain, but it's done. Thanks for everyone's input here.
