Im looking to replace a 2005 xl denali with either a 2017 suburban lt or 2017 yukon xl slt.
The prices and mileage are very similar. approx $40k for 40-50k miles.

Ive looked over the specs and I dont see any real difference between the trim levels. Other then looks can anyone comment on one over the other? As of right now I prefer the looks of the suburban, the front grill on the yukon turns me off.

Any other differences that Im not catching?
Does the buffering that I hear about also affect the suburbans?

Looking to purchase in the next week or so, Im finding several in the area. Just trying to narrow it down and decide on what color I want.

They are very similar and If you like the looks of the Suburban then you will kick yourself later if you buy the Yukon. I would stick with what you like best. The buffering affects the Chevy,Yukon and Cadillac. You have been around for a while so do your test drive and you should be fine.

There was bigger differences in the past it seems like. The current lineup, it looks like just some cosmetic changes. I know the Denali package does make a bigger difference, but nothing that it has makes me want to spend the extra money for it.

Repair cost should be the same also.

It all depends on what the previous owner ordered for the Suburban LT, The Yukon XL slots in higher at the SLT trim level but the Suburban and the Yukon XL can be ordered upwards with various packages. I agree that the Front end on a GMC and not just the SUV's are very polarizing, they have that I drove into a brick wall look. The GMT900 Yukon was hideous looking with that Bug Eyed Monster look. The previous is my opinion only. Take them for a long drive and see if that Booming and Buffeting is there, but the complaints for it seem to have been dimimished for the 17 and later years, not fully. After an 05 the fuel economy will be a revelation.Good Luck

If I remember correctly, Consumer Reports gave higher ratings to the Suburban vs the Yukon XL.

I like the looks of both of them but will vote for the Suburban. The Suburban looks awesome in white especially with the front 2 windows tinted just like the rear. All that just IMHO. Like Tahoe14 said test drive it and get it up to 70-80 mph if you can.

I like the white also, especially with the bow tie blacked out. I'll definatly drive it an the freeway to check for buffering. Luckily there seem to be a few in the area.
I sure hope they drive better the a 13 Escalade I tested last week. It rode bad. Like it needed 200 lbs in the back. Maybe that was just the short wheel base.

Everyone says they are the same, but I honestly believe the GMC compared to the Chevy has better quality control and is an overall better truck. I went from a new 01 GMC Yukon XL to a new 2011 Suburban, to a new late 17 GMC Yukon XL and I know the brands have crossover where they are virtually the same, but I can say that the GMC is a grade above the Chevy version. Just my 02. Not to say the new ones are not nice, I think many of the features on the latest platforms Tahoe/Yukon/Sub/XL are really nice trucks. Certain packages are hard to find, typically there seems to be a decent used market from the Rental companies, but they all usually don't have 2nd row captains chairs, and few of them have the entertainment. For a Yukon XL or Suburban, those features I think are a must, if they have those they should be loaded with almost everything else.

;)

As everyone else has said, they're so close to each other that you may want to go with whichever one looks better to you. One thing the SLT has that the LT does not is ventilated seats, not sure if that's important to you.

I believe you need the Luxury Package with the LT’s to get almost the same features as a Yukon SLT such as power 3rd row, fog lights etc. Check the options on the website through the build and price section to get an idea.
