I got everything in... just a matter of figuring out brackets on transmission... I should have taken pictures before I started this project...

Also my gasket for TX case to adapter said don't tighten anymore than 8 ft lbs. Is that right? Not much torque to hold on transfercase...?

Factory service manual didn't specify any torque for those nuts to attach the transfer case... so it is only 8 ft lbs?

Haynes shows these torque specs:

Transfer case to transmission bolts: 37 lb-ft
Transfer case to transmission support braces: 37 lb-ft

I think the support brace is the cross member where transmission mount goes to? I believe that's what the factory service manual called it. Did they show a picture by chance?

Kewl, I always save ATF when I change it so I have a ton of it on hand. Can you run the whole case with ATF?

Another question, Anybody installed the transfer case and transmission at same time? I need to get mine back in. If I put them in together, is it possible to reach the top bell housing bolts?
Never use plain ATF for a Tcase with the AUTO 4wd. You have to use the spec fluid that has the additive in it for the auto clutches! You will burn them up if you use straight ATF fluid.

@Fless thanks! That is super awesome. Really appreciate the pictures.

@rockola1971 I asked at the parts store. Guy there worked for GM dealer / mechanic shop former to the parts store. He said just run the approved fluid and change it out a couple times but not to worry about it.

I found a spot in service manual that specifies torque for the nuts. Bit confused as gasket says 8 ft lbs... I'm going to go with the service manual...

This silly AllData is AWESOME but DANG is it hard to find stuff in it.

I stopped at the parts store. Their computer called for dexron 6 for the transfer case... I am a little low, maybe a pint low.
