eh bought it haha. Only real fear was the splines on the shafts. Has the same little click click noise when I change directions on the input... assuming chain is a bit tired on this one too. I'll drive one rebuild the other then swap em.

Anybody upgrade the clutch pack in these? I need an exploded diagram, shop manual, or something. Otherwise, can probably go just off Youtube videos.

Tcase is a direct swap UNLESS the donor had a 4L80E tranny. Then the input to the case would be different splines from your original. I just stick OEM AUTO 4wd clutches in them. There are tons of youtube vids for complete rebuilds. Its how I learned along with reading on how the various Tcases worked.

Thanks @rockola1971

I bought the t-case. I will throw this one I bought on the truck and run it till I have time to rebuild my original.

Curious does anybody where where I can buy this plug (picture below). New t case was missing it.

Is that at the vent hole? May not be a plug but a vent.

You are correct and ai am stupid. It needs a new vent elbow haha ordered just now.

There is another interesting phenomena on the case... it is pitted as though acid or something ate a few spots.

I sealed it up with aircraft etching paint (for aluminum) then rust reformer... now glazing over the pits and will it with rustoleum over that. Probably unnecessary but what the heck.

Any clue what that pitting maybe from?20220504_151945.jpg20220504_151924.jpg20220504_191903.jpg

More important question... I didn't realize they hadn't drained the fluid from the case. Most junkyards drain that stuff, I think...

I drained it... It smells like sulfur. Like it wasn't changed and or got water in it. The fluid is clear and clean though... odly enough... I want to use this tcase and rebuild my other. I hope it's okay. Is there a way to flush these somehow?

As long as the water is gone, use a short interval for next oil change could even run ATF. For the water, drain /fill plugs out set in sun.
As for as the case etching, ask someone from a salt state for some pics.
The vent plug now makes it obvious it was swimming!

Kewl, I always save ATF when I change it so I have a ton of it on hand. Can you run the whole case with ATF?

Another question, Anybody installed the transfer case and transmission at same time? I need to get mine back in. If I put them in together, is it possible to reach the top bell housing bolts?

The older lever action 208 tcases used ATF.... So the New Juice is just an updated additive package. For a flush you will never notice a difference.
I have never installed both together. I think you should check for room on the crossmember install.
Yes you can reach bolts, never easy though.
