4 Piston Big Brake Upgrade from 2019-20

Yes, any wheel from a T1 which is: 19+ Silverado or Sierra or 21+ Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, or Escalade will clear these brakes (even the 17” steelies) as they all come with these brakes. Some of the K2 20” wheels will work but I don’t think any of the 22” wheels will work because they’re all pretty concave. I doubt any 800 or 900 wheels will clear.

Oh well, I'll have to save up for Wilwoods or Brembos I guess.

The Brembo calipers aren’t as wide (they’re also lighter) but also since the rotor is so much larger the caliper is further away from the hub which helps with clearance. The Brembos fit with all three of the 22” wheels I have. Honestly, the Brembo kit is well worth the money. They just fall on like they were the stock stuff. I kinda want to buy another kit for my Yukon but I really need to resist since my wife doesn’t need it....

The Wilwood kit is cheaper to purchase but there’s a good bit of assembly needed, I’ve heard of some people needing to grind stuff for fitment (not witnessed for myself though), and the price of replacement rotors and pads is quite steep.

I'm leaning toward the Brembo kit as it's standard equipment on the '21+ PPVs and SSVs, and a GM option for civilians. Parts cost should be significantly better in the long run.

Well did some more looking into the difference from the silverado '19+ caliper to the '21+ Tahoe caliper. There are some differences. Not sure if GM revised them for the big ***** Judy SUVs or if there is separate part numbers to re explore.

See the pictures below. Other then the forward facing part of the caliper, everything else measures out the same. Possibly a difference based on the wheels that are specific to the SUVs.

Now I broke out the scale.

The '19 Silverado I have removed the seals and have ground a fair amount of material off.

The '21 Tahoe caliper, bone stock and complete.

There appears to be an extra pound of material on the Silverado caliper. Interesting findings none the less.

Both share the same piston size 1 7/8 on all 4 pistons, that's ****** ****. Very much so a monster upgrade over both the GMT800 and 900 platforms.

On the Silverado calipers vs. the 21 Tahoe calipers.
They are the same exact part number.....driver side is ....79 and pass side is ......80
The differences and i can see those, could be design evolution over time and/or casting differences from different plants or sources.

BTW there Dr. Gandolf, on your scales one caliper has bolts and one does not
And the weight difference is ? Looked closer 3.2 ounces?

I'm very excited to install mine now that I test fitted em. I don't have wheels that fit but soon.
Which is another issue. If you order aftermarket wheels and spec for 2020 silverado make sure to call and verify they will clear the caliper.
I spoke with CARID today, they are aware of the caliper and they called for me, as they've had many issues with "guaranteed fitment" from their website on wheels
that should fit but don't. He said Wheel mfgs are still catching up.

So those bolt right to the knuckle without brackets? Or do they bolt to GMT900 brackets?

You have to put some washers between the caliper and knuckle to center it on the rotor.

Yeah it was a roll over vinyl I bought on Amazon.......makes keeping the work bench easier to clean and non-slip.

BTW - good point on the caliper bolts, i was in a fury of small projects yesterday.
