anything beyond bolt ons and your probably going to need a tune of some kind. depending on your mods your looking at some annoying dash lights and a bit more power to dash lights and its running like crap. at roughly 330 stock (mentioned earlier) 70 ponies for your minimum i can safely say whatever you do will need a tune. if you want to hit your 450 mark is still easily feasible but guaranteed money involved for something dependable and 100 % tuning required. 400 seems affordable with n/a 450 would probably be easier and more affordable with a basic boost setup. judging price points by also previous mentioned work with suggested 396hp.Okay so if I did this I’d have to have it tuned?
Not really sure of the budget right now. This just in theory, if I had no budget to go by, what would be the best most reliable parts to get 400-450 horsepower? Natural aspirated.
With no budget, I would add cubic inches, punch my LC9 out to 392-402 cubic inches with 243 heads for torque. With a budget, something along the lines of what Chris is doing is my preference but if the dollars get up to around $4k, it makes more dollar sense to drop in an L9H instead.
Scope creep? What the hell is that? Never heard of it.Absolutely. I'm now hovering at that "just one more $1,000 and I could've bought a 6.0 or 6.2" mark. But then I'd be doing a lot of the same work to the bigger motor with new gaskets, etc. so the total cost would be even higher than just the cost of the motor.
You have to have a plan and stick to it while balancing a plan for the unplanned- the scope creep.

Nope. I always do just as much as I set out to do. Never more.Never heard of it? Can't see the forest for the trees, eh?
