My 02 cents, most useable and long lived is the supercharger on it's own. Than the big bang of nitrous which is cheap and exhilerating until the engine grenades. Last would be all the cam,heads,intake,headers which will all produce HP at "HIGH UNUSEABLE RPM". As stated previously the 6.0/6.2 is the way to go. Im in no way hacking on the high revving/high strung small displacement crew.

I'm currently going through the same quest of deleting the AFM etc. from my 5.3 listed below. Between the AFM delete kit new cam etc and cutting down the heads, gaskets. The project is just too much to invest in a 5.3 (IMO). I came a cross a 6.2 at a decent price and will probably go that route it just makes more sense to ME your situation may be different. Put black tape over your dash lights..... To hell with the dash.... You will keep your eyes out the windshield anyway !!
