Thanks guys for the suggestions, I think I need to call around to see if anyone offers the camera/mic service. I keep being told that it is transmission or differential related issues, but at this point, I have almost swapped out every component on both and still no luck.

The fact that it only makes the noise when over 50 MPH and pressure on the accelerator makes me believe their original opinion, but at this point, it could be something random.

Have you checked in the 08 section to see if anyone else has experienced this as this is the 2015+ section. We all try to help no matter what year you own but there may be someone else who has had this same issue with their 08.

My apologies, first time posting/using this forum. I will add this to the 08 section.

I called one shop, I was told that the microphone was called Chassis Ears. I am thinking my next step is to try the CE so I can figure out exactly what section of the Tahoe it is coming from and then go from there.

I agree with the others I think If the noise went away and came back that zeroing in on the front differential is the way to go. Sounds like you had it temporarily fixed. Does not sound like anything to do with your transmission and wheel bearings can make odd noises under all different circumstances when they start to go could be that, but I really think it’s your front diff.

go invest $20-30 in a set of jack stands, jack up the rear end, put the frame on stands and put it in drive, if the sound is still present then it's not your front wheel hub's, jack stands will always come in handy somewhere down the road as well.

Like you said 100k miles wheel bearings couldn't hurt, but I don't know the 50mph is what trips me up. I still think torque converter, maybe transmission fluid level- check hot and while engine running for proper level. Only way it relates to the mph would be if it only has an issue while locked. I would think a decent scan tool would be able to see abnormal line pressures.

Are you sure it’s not the rearend? I know you said front passenger’ss side area but sometimes sounds are thrown around depending where you are. I had an 08 tahoe start with a hum at highway speeds at 50k miles.

Everything sounds like a worn U-joint to me. They're almost always louder under load and the noise could change with considerable temperature changes due to the grease being harder in the cold. The bearings in the faulty joint could've been jarred around during the pinion work, causing the temporary stop of the noise.

Once again, thanks for the response. It is important for me to note tha all of the previous work was done work was done on the rear differential; the front end of the vehicle has yet to be touched. The noise sounds as if it is coming from the front passenger side, but all the mechanics this far say otherwise.

I was questioning the u joint myself. At this point, the u joint is just about the only component south of the engine that has not been replace.

The local shop said they would charge $130 to hook the Chassis Ears up. I think the CE will be my next step. I need to pinpoint where the sound is actually coming from before I start throwing more money at parts that aren't needed.

The strangest part is the sound varies from day to day. Some days it almost can't be heard, the day following the pinion/ring swap, it was nor heard, and then this morning, following the freeze, it was extremely bad.
