XR1's are race mufflers. I've heard them on a dodge charger and a mustang. They are loud and drone like crazy.

Thanks everybody for the help. After reading all this I think I'm going to just get a Corsa.

Now I need to decide on rear exit, side exit, or dual rear exit with an Escalade Platnium bumper. :)

If you have a resonator you should see an extra little "muffler" right out back by the exit to the exhaust. It looks like a large cylindrical can with the exhaust pipe coming in one end and out the other.

If you want quieter exhaust you ought to look for a factory setup from one of the newer Denali's or Escalade's with AFM (2010+). Mine is VERY quiet. You hear a slight V8 rumble but it is pretty quiet.

I've heard the Denali/Escalade exhaust from the 07-09 model years and it is much louder (my friend had a 2007 Escalade). It honestly sounds closer to the sound I'm looking for.

Thanks for that info. I do have a little muffler as far as the back of the truck but I thought that was the regular muffler. I'm going to see if I can get under it to see exactly what I have. I really want NO sounds -- like a well tuned car- so I don't even know that it is on while standing right next to it. So, I'm willing to try a few things.

Magnaflow

Magna flow 12909.

I called Magnaflow and this is the exact part number they recommended. The size is 5" X 11" X 22".

What else did you do other than install the muffler? Did you leave the resonator?

I am also going to install the SLP 3.5 Dual Tips which is not a resonator delete.

I do not have AFM on my Tahoe so do not have to worry about that.. just looking for a more custom sound..

Thanks,

I left the resonator in.
I didn't know there is a slp tip that's keeps the resonator what's the part number?

Just weld in the new muffler it will smell for the first couple of days then it will get a little louder. I am very happy with how it sounds and performs.

Btw the muffler shop will want to keep you old muffler as it is a very desirable part. Make sure you get it back.

I got mine from advance auto parts. They constantly have 20-30 percent off deals.

SLP Part No.

I will get the part number off of the SLP tomorrow when I go to my shop..

Thanks for the info, I think this is what I am going to do also. Can't have drone in the vehicle or I will get lumps on my head. :)

I do not have the cylinder deactivation on mine as they used the L9H engine in the 2009 Tahoe LTZ..

Then install the AirRaid MIT & get the tune.. done & should get some HP increase..
