Hahaha. No 350. No 4D's. 496 and they are 49's. Engine is out right now. Building it up a little more and bullet proofing the TH400. Searching for a drop box and swapping the 60/14 to top loaders and links. 5.13 gears in the 1 ton axles. 15" lift and going 4.5" more to clear these 49's.

Haha sick! What kinda tires are they? They kinda look like they might rub just a little:rotflmao:

They are actually Michelin payloader tires. Sidewalls are 2.5" thick. ***** to mount, let me tell ya.

Yeah, these will rub. That's why it's going another 4.5". The rear are 15" Atlas springs, no blocks. I'm doing a shackle flip back there to get more clearance.
Front is a Sky-manufacturing SAS kit on 47" springs that are 10". Was switching to 56" front springs in a 10" lift but recently decided to link it with 2.5 ton Rockwells to keep driveshafts up high. Might be doing a new frame. She's tucked up for the winter in storage.

I sprayed it with white lithium grease, used 3 bars and still couldn't get it on there. I got it off old rim and inner bead over rim but couldn't get outer bead on. It kicked my ass for hours, walked away. Then many many attempts later I took it to 3 tire shops before I talked to my buddy who's father in law owned Bandag Tire and he turned me onto a place called Treadrock that rents their bulding from my buddy. Took 3 of his best Mexicans to mount it. He didn't even charge me because of my buddy Brad. So I gave each guy $20, worth every penny. Now that I'm going to Rockwells I have to dismount all 4 and remount on custom rims. Not looking forward to it.

As far as either, none needed. When tire finally popped over rim, it only took standing it up and adding air. The sidewalls are so thick they pushed themselves against rim and seated no problem with only air.

These tires prob weigh 250-300lbs each with rim. Hands down. Takes 2 guys and a small boy everything they have to put one in back of a truck. Ride like a brick, but as long as you can keep em turning, they'll find solid ground to grab and push you forward.

Sorry OP. Didn't mean to thread jack about a rig that doesn't even fit the group. I can get pulled off topic pretty quickly when start talking about Big Red. I'll never get rid of that rig. Or my Cummins swapped K5 project. But I won't go there. But I will say anyone looking to repower an older rig and need some power, a Chummins is where it's at.

Ideally, having driveshaft modified is your best bet as Dneel81 said. But my 97 came with a conversion joint. I played hell trying to find one because parts store kept giving me the wrong joint and saying it was the only one available for my truck. Had to go to the stealership to get it.
But I have a needle in a haystack as its a 97 K1500 but it was ordered as a camper special cab chassis. It was originally an extended cab but went to a company called Centurion
Conversions and they extended the frame and put a full rear cab on it making it a 1/2 ton crew cab which wasn't available from the factory in 97. It's a 350/4L60/241 with a 14 bolt semi floater. Well was anyway. It had a transformation about 5 years ago.

Anyway, here's a good write up I came across describing the swap. Read thru it and all of your questions should be answered. I cannot find my old receipt with part number when I bought my u-joint. Hope this helps.

Are those MT classics wheels on your Frankentruck, Snowbound? I like the ratio you chose of wheel to tire. nevermind. not mickey the classics . either way the ratio looks great .

Put a GMT800 on a Dodge chassis, that's a lot of work. Especially when the wheel base doesn't line up and the body mounts are way off. Just proves there's more than one way to skin a cat. I mated a 4L80e to a 12v and set it right down using dodge gen 1 mounts on the GM engine saddles. Used a ORD big block crossmember which cleared pan but barely. I'm fabbin up a compound turbo setup and got a second gen dodge IC to fit in core support. Still a work in progress only because I absolutely hate body work and my rig had quite a bit of it. Fully boxed frame with 1ton axles crossover high steer and hydro assist. This will be my wheeler where my truck is my bogger. Hats off to you, I gotta say I like the Cummins engine and contrary to popular belief it's not a Dodge engine. I get a lot of people asking me why I used a Dodge engine in my K5. Can't wait to get it road worthy, been 3.5 years in the making just doing what I can when I can. Glad to see I'm not the only one here not afraid to think outside the box.
