My horn went out so I'm thinking about train horns.
Any of you guys with tahoes ever mount an air compressor under the hoe? You aren't supposed to get these wet, I thought.

Any pictures of your mounting locations outside and an answer if it is okay to mount outside would be awesome!

The compressor is supposed to go inside. Dont put it out o and its illegal so get your horn fixed and get the train horn as an extra

That's what I'm wondering. If anyone with a tahoe has figured out a spot or fabbed something up to make it where the compressor will stay dry outside. I don't want to drill into the cab because I doubt I'd include them if I sold the truck ever.
I plan to mount the horn where the spare was or under hood.

Just need to know if it's possible/reasonable to mount compressor outside before I go buy everything.

Yea no its too much work n if you havr it inside.you can always remove it. Its not rely noticable and you can put some bondo on the holes if you remove it. I know you want it outside but its really not worth it. Mine are going to go in my back and the horns are going in the bay. Theres alot of room in my bay

This, there's no way in hell you should use these horns as a main horn. They are pretty cool and loud and in the rite situation effective.

Have you tried fixing your horn? For me its been an annual cleaning of the connections to the horns.

Got my horn wet so its done. And I rarely use my horn, I live on campus and the only time I'm going to use it is when people cut me off which is maybe twice a month.

Should I just go with an air tank/horns for now and if I get tired of filling up the tank buy a compressor?

Yea thatl work. You know the compressor can alsp just be straped down in the back by the hooks that are built in the floor already

I'd have to drill 3/4" or so in my floor board to run the hoses from the compressor to the tank
I'd remove my factory sub and mount the compressor there IF I had to do that, that's not an issue. Just don't want 1" holes in the floorboard.

I just sold my horns out of my hoe, I had the compressor inside on 1 of my sets then when I upgraded we tabbed up some mounting brackets for the compressor to sit on the inside of the frame rail because we got tired of the noise of the compressor inside .......I also know someone with their compressor/tank mounted in the engine bay area...but he has some work in his fabbed up brackets lol
