Soon to be a new proud Tahoe owner here.... 2011-12 range coming in the next month or 2.

I'll be pulling most of my system out of the Avalanche to use in the Hoe. Trying to get all of my ducks in a row and get my equipment list together and my build plans in tact in the mean time. I have all 0 gauge wiring and I have 3 sa-12's coming from the Avy; 2 of them will be going in a ported box behind the third row. My plan is to get new amps and components. Going with Hertz mlk 165.3 components and Hertz coax for rear doors. Powering them with Hertz hdp4. Going to go with the sundown SCV4000D for the sub amp. (I have DVC 2ohm subs so the amp will give me 2000 watts at 2 ohms for 1000 each sub; yet still give me headroom to go with 4 sa-12's in the future if I decide to remove the third row).

So on to the question. I've seen a few builds where people put amps and other components under the center console in the front. How much room is under there exactly? The Sundown amp is 24.5" long and 8.5" wide. Will it fit under there??? The Hdp4 is a pretty small amp, but I'm hoping to fit both of them under there with all wiring. Is this possible???

Thanks, Kasey

Do they make a center console sub box for your year / make / model? If so, that would give you a decent idea of dimensions under the console. If not, you may have to get your hands on one before you know for sure.

Thanks for the reply... so what is exactly different about the consoles besides the factory subwoofer? I haven't exactly purchased the Tahoe yet; waiting on some $ I'm coming into in the next month or so. I was thinking all of the consoles were pretty much the same besides the ones with Bose that have the sub in there. If I get the bose system it's all coming out of there anyway so I was hoping to be able to get both of these amps and all wires under that console and just run speaker wires to the subs and doors from there. Shit would be so simple and a lot cheaper than installing them way in the back. Lol and I wont have room on top of the box I'll have either.

Where does everyone mount their amps? Jack compartment? What is in and what kind of room are in the rear compartments in the back?

I am about to start my system install and curious about this as well.I have searched some of the build logs to get ideas but not sure. Mine Yukon has the factory sub so I am gonna leave it. So my option would be go to the back somewhere as my amp is about 2 feet long and prolly 12" wide. I reckon I just need to tear that drivers side panal off and see what kind of room is under there. If anyone has pics of their amp installs in the back I would really like to see them

I'm curious of this as well. With that weak sub removed, should allow some room for a small foot print amp like an alpine PDX or similar. Originally I was preparing to mount amps under the bench. Plenty have done this with lots of success but to have it hidden even more would be ideal. Awaiting feedback from anyone that took sub out that center area and put an amp or 3 in there.

If you have a 2nd row bench, I'd make an amp rack with a wire cage cover and bolt everything down w tamper proof bolts otherwise remove all contents within the center console and mount it in there. It would fit if you stack em via a custom rack.
