Another oil leak thread

Update: so I picked up the truck yesterday late morning. Two and a half days out of commission.
Fortunately all they charged me for was the transmission service. Didn’t charge me for the labor of putting the oil pressure sensor in. They fixed the plate on the rear main seal, fixed the oil pan gasket, and replaced the gasket around the camshaft position censor. I double checked oil and transmission fluid levels after I picked it up and topped them off slightly. Nothing out of place yet, and no drips either. Today’s I’ll tell as I have to drive off the mountain and if it’s gonna leak, that’s when it’ll happen. I’ll keep everyone posted on that later in the day.

How the heck did your pan crack? It's pretty heavy duty aluminum. Did some one overtorque the bolts once?

I know I still have a leak from the front cover, but it's a slow leak that don't drip. I will just need to wipe things off ever oil change or so.

From what I understand, cracks are not all that uncommon. And, of course, human error can contribute to cracking.

I had a cracked oil pan on my truck, and I don't think that the mechanic cracked it, when changing the gasket.

Well I can happily say after three days of driving, Thursday going off the mountain and doing quite a bit of driving, in 100+ outside temps, truck is clean as a whistle on the underside. Not a drop of oil coming out. Finally I don’t have a leaky truck...

I remember that info from another thread but did not think about that. I am amazed that my 2002 doesn't have any leaks. I park on clean concrete and believe me I look. I have never seen a drop on that concrete. Now, just because I said that I will get up tomorrow and there will be a 1 foot wide spot under there tomorrow. I should keep my big mouth shut. Nah.......I am old. I can get away with saying things that other younger people can't. I love that about getting old.
