At 232k miles mine needs an oil pan gasket and valley and maybe another gasket. But it's only a drip and maybe next year I can do them....but the pan on a 4x4 is maybe outside my skill set.

Its been oozing for 50k miles. I hate it but for such non threatening issues I for now will ride it longer.

Valve gaskets I did 3-4 yrs ago. First time ever for me. Seems dry. Fellpro gaskets.

The oil pan on a 4x4 isn’t bad, you just need to remove the 4 bolts that hold the front diff to the frame and let it hang, might have to pry a bit as you slide the pan out. I did my AWD and it wasn’t bad at all.

If it's the 4wd system intimidating you, don't let it. The 4wd components make the job longer, but not more difficult. See starting from post #55: https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/rear-main-oil-seal.117639/page-6

My full procedure is in post #81
The following steps from my procedure are necessary for 4wd:
#5 (easy)
#6 (not necessary, but easy and should be done)
#7-8 (easy)
#9 (not necessary, and there was some friendly banter. But it's easy to do and helped give me more room)

It’s ironic, I was trained how to properly detail an engine bay and I can do it no problem. But I refuse to touch engine bays on clients vehicles. It’s not super difficult but I just have no desire to take that risk on clients vehicles. So I tell everyone it’s not a service I offer. I only do it on my rig! Lol.
it helps to have a pressure washer for getting down to the lower side of the engine block. I also used my foam cannon on the entire underside of the truck. That got everything clean as well.

What is this foam cannon you speak of? I need to thoroughly clean the entire underside on my Tahoe from an oil leak. Thanks.

If you amazon search foam cannon, you will see.
Can attach to a pressure washer. Theres versions for just garden hose as well.

The garden hose ones work but not the best for the underside as they are only as good as the pressure coming out of the hose. The pressure washer version is better for cleaning up the underside.
Chemical guys has partnered with a company called torq and they make the best ones. I’ve tried several cheap amazon ones and they all either break or start leaking very quickly. Have had the torq big mouth foam cannon that chemical guys sells for over a year now with zero problems. I’ve had the original torq cannon since 2017 and it still works flawlessly.
