Everytime I clean my Escalade I have to put some Meguiars Shine protectant on my side running boards and rear step pad to make them look good otherwise they look grey and dingy. But by putting on the dressing it make them slippery and my wife and kids hate it because they always slip on it. What other way is there to make them look good without putting dressing on them and making them slippery? Can you paint them? Has anyone come up with something for this? If you have please share and if you have pics that would be great also. Thanks

Sure you can paint them, the paint might wear off kinda fast in some spots. A few guys have put on the truck bed liner. Looks good and works good as far as a know. Theres also some back to black stuff a few companies offer that is supposed to work pretty good too

Haha I keep mine black with Mothers Back to Black or Tire polish, and it also makes them very slippery, but I am not going to paint it only to have the paint wear off.

I've used forever black the one that's an actual dye like applicator thingy for my hummer trim and boat trim and it still looks great even after a year and water time. I usually can only find it on ebay though. Id say no painting, like everyone else says pay all that money only for it to wear in certain spots.

If you do paint, you might consider putting strips of that sticky-back tread mat'l that looks like coarse sandpaper. Would help protect the paint also.

Use Lemon Pledge. That's it. Not as slippery as the other crap, and WILL NOT fade your plastic parts like the other crap.

(Can you tell that I think the other crap is crap?)

Nothing better than Pledge. If you use Pledge on your plastic parts, and it DOESN'T make them look dark and new and shiny, then you've already ruined your trim with the other crap.

If I ever got wax or anything on plastic trim, it makes them white. I always used WD40 (sounds weird) and it made it look great. I also used it to get a wax stain out of my carpet which also worked
