AWD Yukon non denali?

Ok great, thanks for your help I really appreciate it. I am new to this vehicle and to be honest all awd/4wd vehicles. I am moving to Alaska so I was hoping it was awd.

Hello, I am new to not only this group but to the yukon as well. I just purchased a 2004 Yukon AWD? It has the AWD switch in the vehicle or at least based on the research I have done it matches the pictures of one. And my question to the group is, did they make an AWD Yukon? Note that mine does not have any denali badges on the vehicle. I was just wondering if its possible that it could have been a special order, or if someone unknowingly put the wrong switch into the vehicle (if that is possible). I would appreciate any help I could get, thank you for your time.

Hey thanks for the quick response, i have a different switch in mine. I put a couple a pics of it. Does a 4wd switch have the same connections as an awd switch? Could someone have put the wrong one in?

A word of caution, though. With AWD in these vehicles, they are subject to front diff issues (carrier bearings) due to vehicle with and the fact that the front wheels have the added stress on the half shafts of steering.

Yeah its power everything, it has some issues. But thats to be expected i guess for its age, no biggie couple hundred bucks on ebay and ive got about 15 packages coming lol

Not 100% sure but I believe you can lock the center diff. Top button: Full time 4wd with unlocked center diff. Middle button: Hi-range 4wd with locked center diff. Bottom button: Low range 4wd with locked center diff.

This was an optional 4wd system that was offered very briefly on the Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban and Yukon XL.

Unfortunately, finding information on it is extraordinarily difficult because if was a very limited time option and GM didn't publish much about it. I think it was called "stabilitrack" which is very confusing because their traction control system was called "Stabilitrak" (with no "c" before the k at the end.)

I've never seen a side-by-side comparison of the AWD system with the AutoTrac 4wd system (the one with the Auto 4wd feature) that is on most of our trucks, but I would imagine there wasn't much of an advantage to the AWD system over AutoTrac which is probably why GM dropped it after 2005 or 2006 and never offered it on any of the GMT-900 or K2XX trucks.
