I'm starting the Arnott shock frond and rear upgrade. Have the vehicle up and ready to go. I'm being lazy. I have newer tires and had planned on rotating while the truck was up. Don't want to deal with recalibrating the tire sensors. I'll put that off.

Just ran into my first hiccup. Harbor Freight spring compressors fractured, the spring released and sent sockets flying into the street. I normally advocate their Chicago tools. I'm a little pissed that I could have had a broken hand or foot. Time to go buy a better one.

Go to Autozone and rent one. The quality is good and it has pins on the ends to prevent shit like what happened to you. Actually recalibrating the tires is the easiest of the work you r tackling right now.

Autozone's tool was much better.

The old nut for the top of the spring doesnt fit the new bolt. They didn't provide a new one that fits. Coincidentally, one of the 3 top bolts does. They provide 3 replacements for those. I'll use one of the old ones.

I had a clunking noise in the front left. It had been narrowed down to the shock. The shock was leaking oil as I removed it. It came apart and dumped oil everywhere. I'm glad Im doing this today.

This truck has been immaculate for the most part. This is the first rust I've found. I'm going to take this down to metal and repaint it.

Coated it in bed liner spray. We use this on jeeps a lot.

Just wrapped it up. Took it on a test drive. I still have a clunking noise on hard accelerations. I thought I had eliminated the motor mounts. I don't get the clunk when pressing gas and brake in F or R. Maybe the front left motor mount is failing but not yet broken?

None of my bushings looked shot. Nothing had play. I guess I'm back to square one. At least I don't need to worry about shocks or air compressors for another 100K.

I'm not sure what to think of the new shocks as I've only driven 1 mile now. I'll update after I drive it more. The truck rode awesome before. I wasn't expecting much improvement.

I try to keep my car looking like new but kids in the back will spill drinks in the back.

I found that the captain's chairs come out easily with 4x 3/4" or 19mm bolts.

When I worked dealerships in college I noticed the detailers would remove the carpet and hit it with tire cleaner and heavy soap. Decided to try that. Wasn't able to remove it but hit it regardless. Followed up with a wet vac several times. Carpet should be clean with no gunk.

This job took about 45 minutes.
