So does anyone have any experience good or bad using Blue Devil Rear Main sealer? My rear seal is leaking oil, and I guess it wouldn't hurt to try this to see what happens.

I’ve used blue devil products to seal up a radiator before with good luck but I don’t know if I would add it to the oil that’s just me. How bad is the leak? My rear seal has leaked since I got my Tahoe and I just add a quart between oil changes and send it

I had a buddy try it In a Toyota 4 runner.

it didn't end up working for him and he just sold it leaking rather than fix it. it's just got some stuff to swell the seal rubber up. it might not be great on other seals but the rear main being the worst, especially if it's 4wd. eh, I don't think it will hurt anything.

I have read the Mobil 1 high mileage oil has "seal conditioner" in it. probably the same stuff as but not a much.

rubber will swell when exposed to certain chemicals. like brake fluid on rubber not designed for it. stuff like this.

Saw the headline and immediately thought of this:

Built three of them in my youth, one with my Great Uncle who was a plankowner of the USS Hale (DD-642).

Cool, motorized. The cure in a bottle stuff depends on your long term goals. If you’re band-aid’g it to sell it soon, yes, give it a try.

I put off my rear main seal for a year knowing the trans was going out and it’d only cost $50 to do it then.

It’s the side effects of BlueDevil chemicals that you’ve gotta be watchful of. Time & experience using it is really the only way to see the outcome.

The only pour in fix that’s guaranteed to work is the one with a note inside the bottle that says … redeem this note for a rear main seal and associated labor cost. The cost of this bottle is exactly the same as that service.

I have used the Blue Devil Rear Main sealer in a front diff with a blown seal. Took about 3 days to seal, and didnt have a drop after that. No other diff problems either.

I know I should have replaced the seal, but on the GMT360 with a V8... The inner seal is a royal pain in the arse! Frame cross members have to come out, rack and pinion, oil pan, and some other things... Just to get to the diff.
