I quit worrying about it, the brakes work, I assume the ABS may not when the light is on but as long as I'm stopping I kinda forget about it

My 01 Yukon has been having the ABS light/Parking Brake light come on 85% of the time I drive it. I have heard that it could be the front hub sensors or maybe rear sensor. Does anybody know for sure what part to investigate?

You know, that's a very good question, because I replaced both of my front hubs right before my light came on..............but, I found a service on ebay that only charges $70 to rebuild the EBCM (link at bottom).. I figure it needs it anyway, so I might as well do this first, then, if the problem persists, I'll replace the sensors too. FYI: The first thing I tried, was adding a better ground to the EBCM (under the driver side frame rail).

I thought it may be the EBCM module but I ran a code check and received no codes. My initial thoughts for my truck would be the sensors. The reason behind the sensor idea is from when I did 360s (donuts) in snow and the rear parking break/abs light came on. It went off for a year or more, then started coming on every other day. I really want to fix this on my truck. I think for me I will pull the rear sensor and inspect it. Does anybody know where the sensor is located on the rear axle, center pumpkin or at rear each wheel?

When you say you "pulled the codes", did you pull the ABS codes, or did you just pull the OBD codes?.......because, believe it or not, they ARE different. OBD code pulling WILL NOT give you ABS codes, so make sure you have that info first. I had to go to the dealer to get my ABS codes pulled, but you can just roll around back and ask a tech if they'll pull 'em for you, then give 'em $20 bucks, or whatever.

I just checked OBD codes and it was all clear. Can any other place check all the codes other then a dealer? I will check those codes and see where the problem starts.

If it wasn't for the idiot lights I wouldn't fix this. My brakes work so much better without ABS!!

Yeah, the ABS codes have to be pulled seperately. It's like a $5K+ scan tool, so usually only the dealer has it.

I have a 2001 suburban 1500 LT autoride, I to have been getting the ABS light on the dash. I replaced both front hub assemblies. Still got the light. I took it to a friend, who was a machanic for a dealer. He hooked it up to a machine and informed me that the brake light switch under the dash is bad and needs to be replaced. He said that the bad brake light switch can cause the ABS light on the dash. I don't know but I thought i would throw this out there.
