Face it folks, 20% is too dark to safety drive at night.

Finally, a sane post on this topic! :)

I find the straight-from-the-factory tint too dark for night driving.

So police officers, write away. It might make the offenders better drivers. Although I use the term "better drivers" very lightly.

Ha...I was pulled over for my 20% front tint on the way back from the tint shop!
It had been on for exactly 17 minutes at that point.

Luckily I was let off with a warning; I made a U-turn back to the shop & replaced it with 35%...six months so far and no tickets., knock on wood. :)

Seriously, factory tint to dark for night driving?! How bad do yo...nevermind. If people actually paid attention when they drove, there wouldn't be a problem. Maybe if you upgraded your factory headlights and taillights, you could see better. I got 20% all around and see just fine, if its a dark lite area, I roll my window down.

My dodge had 10% on the front and could still see fine at night. People should pay more attention and everything would be fine.

That sux about the medical note not working, my roommate uses it here in Pa and works everytime.

In my opinion, yes just my opinion, its my vehicle, not the states, if I wanna do something to it, well, I should be able to. ITS MINE. Yes, anything aftermarket is considered illegal, but what about hids or better lights to see better. Oh still illegal even though its safer.

Ok, I feel better, sorry for the rant and sorry bout your tint man, hope you figure somethin out.

Just about every law enforcement agency nationwide is stepping up enforcement on any and all traffic laws. It is indeed about revenue.

35% on front windows is allowed in Virginia with a medical waiver. And as you can see in my signature image below, it's pretty dark. Face it folks, 20% is too dark to safety drive at night.

This sounds like a quote from a tv commercial....thats what they all say....
and yes I have police officers in the family. Its about revenue not safety. Thanks for proving the point sheriff.

i love having tint on my cars, i havent did my tahoe yet but probably will in the spring. I find it easier to drive at night on highway's mainly because of the sudden age of HIDs that didnt come stock. They are improperly aimed and just to bright. In MI any tint on the fronts is illegal except for like a 4 in strip. I never got pulled over in my DTS, but my 2 door Yukon was a magnet for police, and they always came guns out

I feel you bro. I use to average 1 tinted window ticket every 4 months when I lived in the bay area. I moved to the valley 2 years ago and have not got a ticket yet :mexsmoke:

Every word you have spoken above is true, and I agree with you 100%.

But, when you pull out onto the public highways, your right to do as you please changes instantly. Driving on public highways is a privilege, not a right. And if you want to drive on public highways.... you have to play by the state's rules.

Any person with 20% or less on the driver and front passenger windows deserves a ticket every time their tires hit public highways.

On my last ride I had 5% over factory in rear, 20% over factory on hatch, 35% up front at first then put a 20% over the 35%, then also had the windsheild tinted 50% and could see fine at night? no upgraded lights and also no tickets.

On this ride I have 5% over factory in rear and 20% up front have HIDs and ledtails and can see really well. I want to add another 20% up front here soon.

I have that dark of tint so people can't see in due to having ~$2000 in audio equipment inside.

I have 5% on the factory tint on my Explorer, Excursion and Tahoe..... all except the front windows. Anything more than 35% on the front windows is not safe after dark.

Those who use 5% or 20% on front windows is why states had to draw up and adopt window tint laws in the first place. It's kinda like standing outside and shooting yourself in the foot.

Just like previous people have said I roll down my windows if I cant see well but havn't ran into that problem yet because of the led tails, they light objects really well. And also with the led reverse lights I have really lights things up.
