Can I add Bluetooth to OEM Stereo?

Ahhh, you are right on. I'm thinking about replacing my old, crappy radio with this one. But maybe Android Auto is better?

I briefly replaced mine (6-disc changer radio) with an Android, but I was dissatisfied with the inability to integrate it with everything the way the factory unit was. Even with an adapter for this, another adapter for that, it still couldn't get full integration, so I went back to the factory unit. I have now upgraded it to the factory nav unit with the external 6-disc changer, so I have complete integration. I did the LUX amp upgrade at the same time, and now I am pretty happy with it.

Did you include the audiopilot mic? I did on mine and it works pretty well. When I switch to onstar and end my call, sometimes (on occasion) I get a loud blip from my radio as it switches over. It only lasts a split second.

Sorry to be late replying. My Dad just passed away, so I haven't been on here in several days.

Yes, I installed the mic as well. I don't think it works quite as well as the speed controlled volume did, but it does adjust the volume. However, I don't have it in its final mounting location yet, it's just lying inside the console right now. I would like to run the wiring up to the DVD housing in the roof and mount it there where it can get good sound pick up.

I have not heard any unusual noise when switching sources from mine.

Sorry to hear abut your father. I ran the wire and drilled a hole on the trim cover around the center console trim that houses the two cubbies. I hacked a Bluetooth mic to get the cover and painted it the same color as my console and I mounted the mic behind that. It is in almost the same location as the Denali and Escalade. Easily reversible by changing the trim and not the whole center console side trim panel. The Audio pilot mic work quite well, but If I had to pic between speed controlled volume and the audio pilot, I'd take speed control volume. Here is a pict of my mic.

I was playing around with holding the mic in different locations while driving a couple of days ago, and position seems to be pretty important for getting good performance from Audio Pilot. Lying inside the console is definitely not best. I am thinking of doing something similar to yours, except for placing it in the lower front corner of the DVD screen housing. That is the closest location to the driver's ear that I see to mount it.

Your location is very close to the factory position, and arguably would be the best match for how the system was engineered. However, my testing of different locations while I was driving seemed to give best results with a high, central position. I need to build an extension harness and snake it up to the DVD player to get it mounted there. Then I have to figure out how best to fabricate a grille for it.

I know somewhere in my computer bookmarks, there's a box, about the size of a pack of cigs, you swap the OnStar module by just plug-in-play and now you use your phone on the OnStar system without paying OnStar. It's now free to use and all the OnStar components are still usuable..... At no cost.

One thing that irritates me is that the volume goes down when I shut the truck off as the audio pilot no longer senses the engine noise. If I want to continue listening at the same level I have to turn the volume up, but then remember to lower it as the audio will be substantially louder once audio pilot kicks back in.

For the original post, you can get a onstar module from a 09 Envoy and program it to work for bluetooth calls only. Otherwise, Costar is your only option.

Costar..... I am having a difficult time to confirm Costar makes a current box. Many reviews are old.
