These roller cams need next to no break-in, at least not like the old flat tappet cams. The rings seat in pretty fast, within 500 miles and you should be good. When I nought my new 1ton dually back in 97, it said no heavy towing for the first 2000k miles. I got it with 22 miles on it and had a trailer behind it before it hit 200 miles. It towed for the next 600k with no major repairs.

Yeh I wasnt really stressing the cam since I did the prelube for first start , I just didn't want to take any chances .....so my machinist did not give any mileage specs and just said to change the break in oil after 2hrs od run time once I do the few things he said (once she warms up n everything checks out good rev to 2000rpm and hold for 20min then take her out and run through rpm range and not cruise at a steady rpm for 2hrs then change the oil to complete break in)

Does that sound about right? Anything else I should do to ensure the longevity of the life for this motor?

Sounds good to me. I wouldn't hold it at 2000 for 20min, I would just drive it and keep the rpm moving up and down. Do a few part throttle runs, and get progressively harder on the throttle.

...u think I should really just drive it for break in?this does makes more sense , but I was trying to follow what the machinist recommend as he was the builder and I didnt want it to blow up and him just laughing sayin did u do what I said!? do engine dyno break/run in procedures have that much load right after hitting running temp?
I did drive it down n up my street but thottle hasn't learned how to idle when I come to a stop..MISFIRES ARE FINALLY GONE!!! Well I hope, when I drive mis count is all zeros but sometimes start incrementing in park or neutral off idle but I think its trying to figure out why the real time values arent anywhere near what its stock tune has programed or something lol? I dont kno this misfire diag completely burnt me out cuz I can only say what is not it and not what it is other than maybe the tune .
Im bout to go fire her up n let her warm up a few times the take her out if all is good!
