Replaced the current sensor module on the naegative battery cabel and completely changed how the alt was reacting to load demand. I removed the 2.6" installed a 2" overdrive pulley on the alt and with every accessory running in the desert heat the volts do not drop below 13.2. On the highway the RVC system functions as designed and rolls the volts back when not required. the current sensor was definitley degraded but the overdrive pulley is the ticket for idling amps!. Amax alt RPM of 18K will only be exceded in the 5K RPM range and i rarely if ever plan on pushing that hard.

Same here, I hit 6k rpms every day.
But, I have a small pulley on my 99 Hoe and hit redline on that every day also with no adverse affects.

I had an alternator rewound (there is something you don't hear much about these days) on my 2000 Esky back in the day.

It was originally a 160A and I had my buddy rewind it to 200A because he said if we went up to 240A it wouldn't charge at idle.

I ended up swapping a smaller pulley onto it as well to charge better at idle. I had installed a set of E-fans off of the newer trucks onto it and they draw a lot of power. But I picked up a couple miles per gallon from ditching the mechanical fan so it was a win.

Now i get why so many driver side engine mounts are shredding! This is my first 6.2 and coming from the pitiful 4.8 in our last tahoe the power is fantastic. You guys are really winding these things up. I did notice on the tach that there is no redline highlighted? is there simply a rev limiter that keeps you guys out of the 7K range?????
