Just wondered, I love my 5305's, just wondered why the change.

Eh, I didn't mean to come off like a jerk with my previous comment...sorry if I did.

Some people see 5" of drop out of 5305's on our Tahoe's, some only see 4". I tried a set of 5305's before I settled on Tony's 6" drop springs. I wanted to see if I could get 6" drop out of my 5305's, so as a mad scientist experiment I ended up cutting them to see how they'd ride...the moral of the story is "don't cut your 5305's". They're good springs, just not the right springs for my build. If 04blacklout is looking to get another inch drop then Tony's 6" drpo springs should easily get him that inch. :)

I have the 5305's and have contemplated cutting the dead coils for more drop. Which end of the spring did you cut to get more drop? If you cut out the dead coils it should not make any difference in the ride quality/stiffness. What exactly happened in your case with them and how much more drop did you achieve? What didn't you like about them after they were cut? Just curious.

I'll add you to the list. I'm working out some machining issues with the prototypes right now, but I should have them ready to be shipped out this week. Once I am ready to produce my first round for sale I'll need to know if you want the bushings and washers sized for the stock top mounts, or Atomic stock mounts. I'll start a thread once I get them available to list pricing and other details. Here's the people I have lined up right now:

Prototypes:
*) 04blackout (Stock upper mount)
*) Atomic (Atomic upper mount)

Post-Prototype:
*) Tahoewhat (stock or Atomic upper mount???)
*) Bomba02 (stock or Atomic upper mount???)
*) ThatDudeOrion (stock or Atomic upper mount???)

I can't remember which end I cut. I am pretty sure it was the dead coils, or what seemed to be dead coils.

What exactly happened in your case with them and how much more drop did you achieve?

I can't recall exactly what happened with the ride height...it was too long ago, but in short it was a negative experience resulting in me 1) trashing my 5305's and 2) reverting to my cut stock springs until Tony's 6" springs were available.

What didn't you like about them after they were cut? Just curious.

Their spring weight seemed to increase drastically after I cut them, which resulted in a VERY stiff and BUMPY ride. The mention of me cutting them is to serve as more of a cautionary tale more than anything. :)

No no no, you did not come off as anything to me. :happy160:Hope mine didnt sound p.o either. I was generally just wondering. lol... Its all good. Thought did not even come across my mind. Just thought you may have expressed more than b/c it rocks. ha ha ha... Just messing with you.

On that note though, i have 5305 and I have a pretty significant drop on the rear w/ these springs. I have spoke with others that have these springs, and are not as low as me. But i hear they ride nicer then the 5305's so one day i may try them out long as they dont raise me.

Post-Prototype:
*) Tahoewhat (stock or Atomic upper mount???)

Atomics upper mount, Atomics upper is welded to my frame.

do my springs will ride better than any spring out there and sit lower... HINT HINT lol

also belltech rated the 5305 springs at a 5 inch drop originally. Once the 07 up models came out they put it to 4 and if you use the 07 up springs they dont lower the truck as much adn dont ride as well either. I posted this up few years ago and a member then put the 5305 and got 3/4 inch more drop. The belltech 5305 do give more than a 4 inch drop thats for sure. The 2 tahoes i posted got a clean 4.5 out of them with no spacers I did 2 weeks ago
