Thanks for the replies, folks. Just installed the Volant over the weekend. Wow, what a difference at WOT (as others have stated)! It's like I added a CAI AND an exhaust. At WOT, the truck growls like I never thought possible with the stock exhaust. It really is THAT different. Pretty amazing. It's sounds awesome.

Are there gains to be had from the CAI? I'm not sure. I just put it on yesterday, haven't gotten it on the highway, etc. But my initial reaction is that it DOES affect acceleration -- either in the form of just more HP, or maybe in the way the tranny shifts. I definitely feel as though the tranny is behaving slightly differently now. Again, it's early, and I don't know how to better explain the shifting diff yet.

I thought the directions for the install pretty much stank. Is it REALLY that had to be more clear with instructions? Is it? Are these companies being charged by the letter when making up the install instructions? Geez.

All in all, I think I'm going to really like the Volant. Man, does it sound good....

Vararam Tri Power Intake....first mod i did and i absolutely love it
Thats what I have on mine but I'm not crazy about it. I didn't feel any differences (despite all the 25whp gain reviews I've read) and according to the mfr. you are supposed to pull the filter and clean it every 6k miles. That wouldn't be that big of a deal if there was room to get the filter out without pulling the entire airbox which involves pulling both clamps from the ram air hoses and pulling the box from the MAF (which was a PITA to get on in the first place). I had a volant in my 02 5.3L pickup and liked it so I may switch to that if a tune doesn't wake it up.

Anyone with a Volant CAI having an issue with the check engine light coming on? I installed one on my 2009 LTZ and it came on about a week after install. The check engine light seems to turn on and off every couple of days.

I took it to Chevy and they ran the diagnostics on it and told me it was because of the CAI.

Eek. Really? Hmm... Well, I just installed mine on an '09 LTZ, too, so... I'll let you know if I have any problems. But, that would be annoying at best. I sure hope I don't get any lights.

I've heard of this happening because it can mess with your A/F ratio. Only way to solve it is to take off you CAI or, better yet, give Justin at Blackbear a call and get yourself a tune. The tune will solve your A/F problem.

Might want to run the code yourself and see what the actual code is. But if the code is "Too Lean", then this is probably your problem.

For some reason, that is the only brand I have seen with the CEL issues.
